Did the Mata Nui robot have a sleep cycle?

It has been strongly hinted at that the twin suns over Metru Nui represented the “eyes” of Mata Nui. For one, the suns were positioned right where Mata Nui’s eyes would be on his face. Also, in the Legends of Metru Nui movie, when Mata Nui succumbs to his endless sleep, the suns over the city become eclipsed, as if his eyes were closing.

Given that Metru Nui had a day-night cycle which involved the rising and setting of the suns, does this mean that Mata Nui himself had a regular sleep cycle when he was in control of the MU robot? Was Mata Nui asleep when the suns over Metru Nui were down?
