Firevines and Heatshrubs
A plant that grows in mangai, that appears in dark red to orange to grey-tan, they are this colour due to the ashes, dust or because some of these plants do not use photosynthesis, rather their roots act as a geothermal power station and they absorb heat from the rocks below. Outcrops of these fire vines and heat shrubs usually mean that the surface temperature of the rock is lower than that of areas with less or none of these plants, this is why the Mangai keep them around a structure the land it is build on will not be painfully hot to stand on.
Fireshrubs also absorb heat but at full growth, turn slightly greenish as they absorb some energy from the sun. The shrubs grow small amounts of non-edible berries, however some Rahi find these nourishing.
