A Breath Taken Deeply | A Story

The sun set upon the desert, as the wind howled through the dunes.
Coyotes howled as tumbleweeds rolled across the dusty ground.
The sandblasted rocks of canyons and plateaus darkened.
The air was frigid, like daggers against uncovered flesh, whirling relentlessly through the night. As the moon rose,
A figure stood, garbed in strange clothing. Their eyes glowed, the only thing visible of the figure’s face.
The sound of sand crunches under their feet, as the blown sand clawed at their clothing. More figures emerged from the shadows.
The crunching stopped. The group of travelers stared at each other.
Silence ensued. There were two others. One was dressed in a sort of welded together armor, with spikes lining the bulk of it. The other, however, was dressed in a sort of a more aristocratic outfit. They were both with revealed faces. The armored one was brutish looking , with a more pronounced chin and brows, along with a very thick nose. The other one, looked ratty, with a thin neck and cheeks, and a crooked nose. The Stranger, glowered at them, with almost a look of recognition. Their hand drifted somewhere near their hip, their eyes still on the two figures. Finally, one spoke. " Howitzer, is this the man?" The brutish one asked.
The ratty one, Howitzer, replied quickly, while pulling out a yellowed sheet of paper.
“Yes. This n’ the one.”
“They don’t look like a man. Heck, or a woman.”
The Stranger stood silently, almost like a statue in the moon.
The clicking of hammers echoed throughout the plain, as the duo raised their revolvers. “Take a long breath.” Howitzer said, smiling. “This n’ gonna be your last.”
There was an audible inhale and exhale. Two gunshots rang out through the night.
The two bodies of Howitzer and his accomplice layed on the dusty ground.
There were audible grunts of pain from Howitzer, as The Stranger walked into the dust. The crunching of sand returned, as the coyotes howled, the smell of blood on their noses.
A scream cut out through the gales.

This needs some artwork. It’s a well-written story, and I would love to see a sequel, or a continuation!
