A Shapeshifting Kanohi Contradiction.

I found a bit of a contradiction that I would like to discuss. Greg has said that Makuta masks are specially made so they can shape change with the Makuta wearing them and most Kanohi aren’t shapeshifting compatible but I found an example of one Makuta shapeshifting and doing that with a regular Kanohi. In Dark Mirror Teridax was wearing an infected Hau when he shapeshifted into Tuyet. In that same chapter it was confirmed he was shapeshifting and not using his illusion power which makes sense since there would likely be Toa of psionics around Metru Nui who would notice that. Also Greg himself has confirmed it was infected and not just appearing to be infected like what Teridax did when he first appeared to the Toa Mata.

He also said Makuta can not infect each other’s masks which rules out this being a Hau or any mask worn by a Makuta and they are the only ones who use shapeshifting compatible Kanohi. The best answer I can think of to explain this is the infection created a link which allowed Teridax to shape change with it. The reason I say this is Greg confirmed Makuta are psychically linked to their own armor which lets them feel pain so perhaps this how Teridax in Dark Mirror can shape change while using a Kanohi Hau since we know infected Kanohi forms a link with the Makuta who infected it. What do you think about this contradiction I found and the explanation I came up with? Also I could find the related links to what Greg said if I have to if you don’t believe me so I can prove my sources as being true.

Yeah, you probably should’ve lead with the quotes instead of saying you could get them but didn’t.

As for the theory, I think Teridax just made a Hau for himself. It’s not like the Makuta are incapable of creating their own masks, and Teridax has an affinity for the Hau, as it is the symbol of the great spirit and one he loves to corrupt.

dont realy see a contradiction there.

This doesnt realy imply that the shapeshifting compatibility is what prevents makuta from infecting each others masks. its more likely that any mask worn by a makuta gain an immunity for the duration they are being worn by said makuta.

thus teridax could just pick up some shapeshifting compatible hau, infect it while its not being worn and then just put it on himself. all without changing anything about the story.
