Adaptive Toa Kaita

Just finished these mocs. i was always a little disappointed that the Kaita never showed up again after the Bohrok Kal defeated Wairuha Nuva, so the other night i used the parts of the mistika and phantoka to design my own interpretation of what they might have looked like in Karda Nui.

I’m not that happy with how they turned out TBH, so I might redesign them in a more “Titan-like” form.

Wairuha is my favorite of the two. I like how you went all out with doubled up legs, wide hips, etc. It captures the spirit of the original kaita.

I gotta say, this really calls out just how gray the 08 toa were

Thank you! i designed Wairuha first, and went in with the intention of doing the doubled legs and wide hips, but when i came to Akamai i realized that wouldn’t work for him. Yeah its very frustrating just how colorless the 08’s were, i think the makuta had more color, though at least the mistika had a lot of silver instead of just grey

Eh yeah they’re a bit clunky but with Kaita and combiner models what can you really do? Though for what they aim for I’d say they succeed, I like propellers on Akamai. Nice job

Interesting concept, but the execution could use some work tho.

yeah, i know, i was limited by the parts in the sets. i’m going to work on making “Titan” style mocs for better versions of them

Akamai kinda just looks like a heavily-armored regular Toa, but Wairuha really evokes a Kaita, in shaping. Though the colors feel to consistent, it lacks the chaos of the og Kaita colors because the 08 Toa are so monotone. And now Wairuha’s silver mask doesn’t look special.

I agree with all of that, and i fully intend to rectify these issues. color and shape are at the top of my list

here is a preview of the redesigned Wairuha feet

Okay, the Wairuha Titan design has just finished rendering. I’ve placed both designs next to each other for comparison, and you can probably tell that i took quite a bit of inspiration from 2008 Takanuva

And finally here is the titan redesign of Akamai, i wanted to invoke his warrior nature and gave him six projectile weapons, two swords, and a rohtuka spinner

By the way, if anyone wants to actually build these, or any of, my mocs, send me a DM and I I will happily share the studio files with you!

are theese still just with the 6 sets?

No the titan style redesigns use many parts that are not in the original sets, but the smaller ones only use parts found in the sets, except for pohatu’s propellers, which are not in bricklink’s studio software

I have the model for that part if you want (just to be clear, though, I didn’t actually make it).

no it’s fine I’m awful with studio

I prefer the parts I used more
