Hey! This is the third version of Ahi, one of my MOCs from a while ago (in case you didn’t read the title). I started this guy from scratch to utilize the fusion style of building I have been using lately. He “only” took me six months of planning and building to finish, so, you know, I hope you like it. On to the MOC…
So I was going for the whole lava motif, if that was not readily apparent. I wanted to incorporate the armor placement of the previous versions while using a more advanced construction.
His articulation is pretty good, but the main issue is that the ball pieces are really loose (I hate those things sometimes). Oh, yeah! He has his good old lightsaber-buster-sword-of-awesome-sauce again.
So, I wrote a whole wall of text about his backstory in the universe I have going. If you want to read about it or see more pictures, check out the full album here: Ahi V3 | Flickr
Woah dude, this is freakin cool!
The only main thing that I don’t like is that the trans neon orange Kaukau is a bit to much of that colour in one place
I really like the weapon. It looks futuristic. The piece choice on here is also excellent. The colors work very well and you can tell there’s a lot of effort put into this.
So like, the kaukau is cool n all, but water breathing aint exactly the most fitting power for a lava elemental jokes aside though this looks fantastic
It looks really good! You managed to build it with normal Lego and Bionicle parts which is always good, It still has a working gear function, the mask, Oh boy, that mask looks amazing. The colours of the MOC flow well and the weapon looks cool. The only problem I have with it is that from what I can see it seems to be a bit short, but that’s only a minor thing. Overall, this is a great MOC!
(an early version of my MOC had the same mask too)
Pretty cool stuff you have here! Some of the things like the gap on the knees and the silver fingers bug me, and I recommend you making the arms have open ball joints instead of locked so you have more realistic articulation.
The torso is also a bit blocky, but some other things like the way those parts are attached to the socket on the upper legs is pretty clever, the gears mimicking a gearbox is also a nice touch too.
Ha! That’s pretty cool. Great minds… use the same Maori words for fire/lava elementals. I have actually had this character around for close to two years now. I am kind of surprised I never saw yours honestly. Anyways, I like your different take on a similar concept. Thanks!
'The are actually grey, which fits with the sections on his back and the little bits on his chest.
That’s a good idea! I should try that! It would be really tricky with the way the armor is attached, but I will see what I can do.
Nice MOC! Personally, I think the sword looks a little too flimsy, especially to be called a ‘buster sword’, but looks good overall. My favourite part’s gotta be his colour-scheme. Really nice colour-blocking.
