Among The Wreckage Chapter 3

Chapter Three: True Heroes

Things were not going as planned in the battle against the skakdi. The Skakdi Fusion was a skilled warrior, and was, or so it appeared, not afraid of pain from attacks. He was, however, nowhere near as impressive as the cunning Barterrakk, who had the ability to disintegrate his opponents, which he used to his advantage when cornered.

The Toa Mahri were no exception either, as they tended to fight in a similar manner to skakdi now, even using their kanohi as scare tactics.

But the Toa Hagah fought on, fueled by their need to avenge the fallen Iruni, and to stop the terrible fusion fusion from achieving his goal of world domination.

The biggest problem was figuring out how to free the Toa Mahri…

“Interesting beings, wouldn’t you say Dekra?” Said Lurker, as he and his fellow Dark Hunters watched the watched the ongoing conflict on Spherus Magna through a spell that Dekra had casted.

“I suppose…” was Dekra’s response.

Dekra was a tall, menacing, and old being, who was rumored to have once been a toa, or even a turaga. He and just joined, and no one in The Dark Hunters but The Shadowed One himself knew if these rumors were true.

“I find Wars boring,” added Dekra, “But the Golden Skinned Being intrigues me.”

“Well then Dekra, I guess that your first mission will be to… Take him out…” blowed The Shadowed One, who, unbeknownst to the two Dark Hunters, had been listening to their conversation the whole time.

“The toa called Kopaka has made QUITE the anouncement about this being… He is to be eradicated at all costs. Whosoever can complete this task will be given a reward. Probably in the new currency the toa are trying to launch.”

The Shadowed One dismissed Dekra with a wave of the hand, and with that, Dekra was gone.

“Are you sure it’s such a good idea to send him on a mission that is so… difficult… for his first mission?” Asked Lurker.

“Something tells me Dekra can more than handle this mission.”

“And if he can’t?”

“He will die.”

The Toa Hagah had managed to capture the Toa Mahri and escape to their base. Though it would not be long before the skakdi figured out where the encampment was.

“Norik, what do we do?” asked Gaaki.

“I don’t know… It doesn’t appear that they will snap out of it until The Skakdi Fusion… Dies.”

“But that’s against the toa code!” Yelled Bomonga, loud enough that two patrolling skakdi outside the cave heard it.

“I know… That’s why I’m trying to find an alternate solution.”

The two skakdi soldiers stepped closet to the opening.

“WHAT DO WE DO!?” Yelled Bomonga again.

“Quite you fools!” Said Jaller.

“This is our choice! The skakdi are superior and you know it!” Added Kongu.

Then, the two skakdi came into the cave.

As it turned out, one of them had a shovel for a weapon, and had finally found a use for it.

“Oh… no…” said the mangled body of Iruni
