An Ascension

Chapter 1 “Genesis”

There was a story, one passed down through the ages.
In Sphereus Magna, through hushed voices, a story is told.
The Story of the Great Beings mistake.
They say the God-Like Beings made a Vessel, something that could contain their power, for when they finally faded from time. But the combined powers were well beyond what could be contained by the Vessel.
Its name was Olisi, and was sealed away in order to stop it from becoming too individual, the second it showed weakness.
But its gifted powers soon dripped like water out from its eternal tomb, leading to corruption and plague.
It took all of the Great Beings to reseal the Tomb, and to put a stop to the malaise that consumed the Magna.
Many millennia later, newcomers have come to the Magna, and now, they try to rebuild their life once again.

Chapter 2 “Buried Secrets”

@Senit had woken up to a dim sunrise among the rocky outcroppings of the farthest reaches of Black Spike mountains, where the Onu-Matoran had yet to expand. @Rukah had already woken up, with a weary look on his face.
As the toa of lightning approached him, he spoke hoarsely: “So, when do you think Tobduk will give us a real mission?”
“You know that the Onu-Matoran need help fending off the creatures in order to expand. Those were our orders.”
The Irusian shrugged. “I just want a real battle, that’s all.”
“You’ll get one soon enough. You have to be patient with these kinds of things.
Shouldn’t need to get yourself in a fight where not needed.”
A horn echoed through the campsite, as the other inhabitants stirred.
Another Toa joined them, a Toa of ice. Though, most would mistake him for a Toa of iron, as most of his body was replaced with cybernetic parts.
His name was Yumi. And he is a most skillful assassin, legendary for his infiltration skills.
He, however, did not sit, but simply stood.
His voice was sharp and high, as he spoke to his comrades.
“You two, let’s get moving. We need to oversee the construction.”
He then promptly left.
Senit and Rukah soon got up and ready.
When they arrived to the expansion site, the Onu-Matoran were already at work. Senit and Rukah soon found themselves walking on a massive catwalk, consisting of scaffolding. Yumi was already there, staring off into the distance.
He quickly turned his head to face the duo when they approached him. He squinted at them, before continuing to look at the scene below.
“Two more rockslides.” He muttered.“I’m going to need to freeze the area.”
Senit soon descends to the excavation site, while Rukah expertly, and rather flauntily, flies down. The Onu matoran ignored the toa who approached them,
fervently digging through the earth.
However, one did approach. He wore a noble rode, eyes gleaming yellow.
“Toa Senit, Rukah. I and a few other diggers have found a large piece of metal embedded into the wall. We have yet to try and open it, as we worry what could be inside.”
"Well, whatever could be in there is probably dead, or an artifact, or drained of energy. " Rukah said reassuringly.
“Still, it would be best if you were present.”
Senit let out a sigh of surrender.
“Alright, let’s go.”
As the duo approached the wall, they saw indeed that there was something in the wall. Engravings were emblazoned into the metal, writing that went in a spiral.
“What does it say?” Rukah asked.
“It says: “Beware of thy one who should not speak,
thy one which gods let into their peak,
Beware of thy one who gained thou voice,
thy one who spread thy malaise,
Beware, of thy Great Beings mistake.””
"Well, that’s ominous. " Rukah said.
“What are we waiting for?” Rukah unsheathed his crystal blades.
In a few deft motions, the old metal was cut away, and a crude doorway was formed. “Stay here.” Rukah said. Senit rolled her eyes but obliged.
It was dark in the room. It smelled of dust and musty air, and only by stepping out of the door way was he able to get a good look. He saw a figure, slumped over into a heap, wrapped in a cloak, ensnared by chains.
But as Rukah took a few steps, the figure stirred. It stared at Rukah, and then started to wrench at the chains in a mix of disgust and desperation to get away from them.
Rukah stared as the rusted chains held for what seemed to be hours, as the pitiful figure pulled and tugged, until the chains snapped.
Rukah once again drew his swords.
The Figure turned to him…

…and seized him by the throat.

Chapter 3 “Dirty Hearts”

@Rukah felt the clawed hands of his attacker clench into a vice like grip on his throat, and then himself being hurled out of the tomb.
@Senit saw a cloud of dust erupt from the metal wall, and then her comrade being thrown against the rock surrounding them.
As she rushed to his side, a figure stepped from the doorway.
The figure was gangly, with chains wreathing its frame. Its massive hands tipped with claws, with spikes sprouting from all manner of places.
And its face wore nothing more… than a jet-black version of the kanohi Olisi. Senit discharged a bolt of lightning at it as Onu Matoran flew for their lives. The Figures body trembled, as the arc of electricity flew into it, granting the creature new vigor. Yumi, brandishing two serrated daggers lunged at the Figure, only to be swatted like a pathetic fly.
In a angry rebuke, Yumi sent a powerful wave of ice energy, able to freeze any foe, only to be absorbed by the Figure. The Figure was bursting with energy, more powerful then ever. And then, it spoke. Its voice was intense, sharp and radiating power. “Ah. Free. At last. O Great Fools, now dawns your reckoning. And your blood shall run through the world! Warriors of dream and element, my gratitude, is not forgotten. I am the chained vessel Olisi, their mistake.”
And with that, he disappeared from sight, leaving no trace.

Chapter 4 “Return”
Olisi needed to get his bearings. As much as he had probed the warriors, he needed to know what this, this new world. He also had lost his arm, in the battle. From what he had gleaned, Sphereus magna had been restored, Marendar had been obliterated, and the Great Beings had been found. They had left the world to die just like they had to me. As he wandered, a forest blocked his path. As much as he wished he didn’t want to, maybe, there would be some sort of village. He wandered into the forest, not encountering any real threats. He came across a massive house, with strange markings covered all over it. As he passed by, a figure came from the house, bearing large wings and ears.
“Oi! Who might you be, stranger?”

Chapter 5 “Conflict”
It was quiet in the chamber that held the counsel of the great beings. It had become overgrown, but line of energy glowed throughout the ancient structure, hinting to the power it holds, or at least, once held. Murmurs and dissonant voices were heard, as shadowy figures seated themselves, overlooking the center. At the center of the
chamber, stood @Rukah and @Senit. “So its true.” One of the shadowy figures said, addressing the two. “Olisi has returned.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Senit said dutifully. “At least, that’s what he calls himself.”
“How is this a problem, Opal?” Another figure asked. “If he is weakened now, then we can-” “No, Angonce.” Opal interjected. “If he is given the presence of any of us, he will drain us, and will reach more and more power. Waiting until he is unable to drain, as he is filled with inferior energy from the planet itself, is the only way to safely deal with him, and, it won’t corrupt Sphereus.”
“My lady.” Senit asked. “What do you mean?”
“Olisi is an empty vessel, a void. His very existence drains things. He will drain the most powerful source of energy present near him. And right now, the only thing that has a powerful source of elemental, physical, and all others, is the planet itself, which Olisi would never be able to drain. But, when in the presence of us, a great being, he will grow with such power, we will become clay in his hands. Because, not only is he a container for power, he is a catalyst for it, magnifying the power tenfold.” Another figure replied.
“But he has a limit?” Rukah asked.
“Yes.” The Figure continued. " He was only able to store enough energy equivalent to each of our stores of energy combined. If we wait, and stay hidden-"
“As you have done for the past 1,000,000,000,000,000 years?”
Rukah interjected frostily.
More murmurs and sounds of objection erupted from the overlook.
“We will need to think more about this. For now, return to your duties. If you come across him again, you must keep your distance, for he has no good will for you.”
The doors creaked as they closed behind Rukah and Senit.
Senit looked at Rukah with fury burning as hot as white fire.
“You dare speak to them like that?! They are our creators, our gods!”
Rukah snorted. " And they left us for dead, expecting us to turn off once mata nui landed. And if we didn’t we’d be put at the mercy of that robot and its army. Some gods."
