Season 2 of Vinland Saga wrapped up today. It’s gone from a great show to being in the top 5 of all time for me.

So let’s talk about Jujutsu Kaisen…

JJK 0, Season 1, and the Hidden Inventory arc were all amazing and is what I consider peak JJK. I had a blast watching these and I don’t regret it at all. Shibuya Incident was pretty good, though not AS good (two of my favorite characters bit the dust here :pensive: ). The fights were just next-level insane and so was the tension, but it was admittedly a bit hard to follow.

From here is where the series starts to slip, however…

The Culling Games arc in the manga gave us great characters but the actual story was somewhat mediocre, with weird villain motives, bad writing decisions, and other characters who abruptly died without realizing their full story potential. To add on, I feel like some characters regressed a bit here (example: Maki Zen’in) as well and the manga felt a bit random in places.

The most recent Shinjuku Showdown arc is nothing but Sukuna Kaisen to me, maybe it’ll work in the anime but the fights were somewhat of a chore to get through; the black-and-white illustrations don’t really work for me. What happened in the timeskip? Many more of our beloved characters die here, and while it’s for a worthy cause, the story gets more and more repetitive with each chapter in my opinion.

‘Tis the cost of fame and the need to make more story to sell. The longer any continuity continues, the harder it is to make new material without plot reuse becoming very apparent.

Not really an anime fan but I do like that Frieren show

I’ve started watching two animes (Voltes V and Shinkalion) but dropped both after a few episodes. Nothing wrong with either series, but I just can’t get into 2D animation. Shinkalion kinda remedies this since its robot scenes are sort of 3D, but I’m still much more into live-action.

That said, both series have interesting plot ideas and the robot designs look great!
