I wanted to share some ideas I have about the applications of the kraata powers fire resistance and ice resistance since they seem a bit too circumstantial and I would like to hear your opinions on these ideas.
The first is since they can not heat up or cool down their rahkshi armor like they can do to themselves they can instead open the hatch of their armor to make contact with an opponent so they can give a burning/freezing “bite” to their opponent even if it isn’t much.
The second idea is they can use their extreme body temperatures to escape what they are resistant to. This is to differentiate them from adaptation’s tolerance and limited invulnerability’s immunity to extreme temperatures. For ice resistance they can thaw themselves out if they get frozen, and fire resistance can put out fires on themselves by lowering the temperature around themselves.
Another application idea I have is they are sensitive to the opposite of their body temperature to sense the cold or warm around themselves. For fire resistance it wouldn’t be like thermal imaging it would be like they can sense the direction of fires in the distance, sense lava near the surface while underground, sensing the heat of machinery whether they were on recently or are currently on, as well as sensing the body heat of nearby opponents.
For ice resistance’s sensing capabilities they can sense when the temperature drops or they can tell which tunnel an opponent went by sensing which is the least cold due to the body heat of the opponent who recently went down the tunnel.
What do you think about these ideas about how fire and ice resistance can be used?
I feel like that’s already implicit in their powers, and I would definitely support this as an interpretation of existing lore.
I like them being sensitive to the opposite, but I’m not entirely sure what that has to do with them being able to sense that opposite. Still, I like both.
Overall, think that these suggestions are all decent ways to amp up the power of a rather weak kraata, whether individually or in conjunction. The third is my favorite, I think, followed by the first and then the second. I still like the second, I just feel that it doesn’t add much more than the kraata already had.
For the second one true but it still differentiates themselves from adaptation and limited invulnerability since those two can still remain frozen or be on fire even if they don’t get damaged by extreme temperatures and they don’t have an innate way to deal with those kinds of events they just endure it.
