Are the G1 Bionicle molds gone for good?

One sec, I actually got a response from a lego designer talking about this.

I don’t doubt it for a second. It wouldn’t have made sense for lego to keep only the vorox armor and the gurahk staff so that they could be used in g2, I believe somewhere deep in their storage is the molding frames for every bionicle piece ever made.

It is a real build, all of these inspiration models are. We built a lot of them and Nico picked his favorites to go into the book.
Those pieces are from Nico’s own collection. These molds have been gone for more than 15 years now.

Although here he was talking about pohatu masks so there’s still a chance that some of the more recent parts could still be out there.
