Artakha, creativity incarnate (canon contest #2: meet the maker)

So this is my entry to the Artakha contest. I don’t expect to win, I just want to participate.

He’s similar in height to Brutaka, maybe a little taller. I don’t have him assembled for comparison.

I noticed a lot of other entries had large, long hammers, so I went with a small hammer that closely resembles a real blacksmithing hammer. It’s a tool, not a weapon.

If need be, he could easily defend himself with it though. If Bionicle characters are strong enough to use ludicrously oversized weapons with ease, imagine what they could do with more conventionally sized weapons with minimal effort.

I also dislike how wide a lot of the entries are, so I went for a more slender design, while still trying to give him presence.

Here are the breakdown shots. It’s pretty simple.

The waistcoat is a Furno XL cape, and the holes in the cape slip over the 4L axle through his waist, which those two black 1x2 liftarms are on. They hold the cape in place.

I actually borrowed a lot of design elements from existing titan sets, like Brutaka, Axonn and Maxilos. If it ain’t broke…

again, its a pretty simple build but I think it gets the job done.

The hammer head is all system, also simple.

And there you have it, if anything needs to be broken down more I can provide more pictures. hope y’all like it. Good luck to all the other entrants.

A great moc overall, but I really do love that hammer!

Nice entry! Really similar to what I imagined a figure as Artakha to look like, lean but noble.

Even though I’m kind of a fan of the “wide” Artakhas, I’m actually going to pick this as my favourite of its first bracket. It doesn’t need to be hyper-technically-impressive, it needs to suit the character. This build shows an understanding of Artahka’s less warlike side that a number of the others seem to have missed, but still makes him look imposing. Love the cloth, we need more fabrics in Bionicle and this character is a great place to introduce some.

Not the hammer I pictured - I was seeing more of a hybrid war/crafting device - but I really like it. “Hammers” home the point (not sorry for pun) that he’s not Axonn or someone who goes around fighting wars. He’s powerful, but he prefer to create. I like seeing that fact noticed.

(Techincal note - love the use of the hero factory launchers as leg armour. Looks techno-medieval, which is also perfect for this character).
