The last surviving member of the Autobots, Defender spent most of his time on Earth in stasis lock, trapped in vehicle mode due to injuries sustained during atmospheric reentry. He was found shortly after crash-landing in what would become Area 51, sparking rumors of extraterrestrial technology being developed there. In truth, he became a top-secret weapon known as the T-28 Defender, an electric tank that was nearly invulnerable to vehicle shells of the time. He served in numerous wars throughout the 20th century, sparking the Defender Project within the UN, as member countries scrambled to replicate what appeared to be an increasingly dangerous American advance in technology. While these efforts were mostly unsuccessful, due to a lack of knowledge about Cybertronian technology, France, Russia, and Britain all made similar electric tanks by the mid-1960s.
It was not until a few centuries later that Defender was returned to Cyberton, after the defeat of the Decepticons on Earth and the formation of the Neogermanic Alliance.
