Avengers: Doomsday (2026)

I…I do not know how to parse my feelings concerning…this.

With the exception of the Gambit and Shang-Chi sequence being the best.

Let me guess, we revisit Batman V Superman’s plot in that Doomsday hires each team to face each other to minimize the competition and open up a portal to Kingdom Hearts…er…I mean…well what other cosmic threats are there besides Galactus?

I am guessing this is going to happen:

They’re going to base this off the Jonathan Hickman Secret Wars run where there were incursions. Dr. Doom’s own universe, with his mother dying, was destroyed because of this. He discovers Captain America was responsible for this by living in another timeline. (I believe this was gonna be Kang’s plotline before they abandoned him. That was Kang’s story in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.) He is looking for a way to control the incursions. The X-Men’s universe gets destroyed and they come into the main MCU timeline as invaders, as they tracked Captain America to being responsible. In secret Dr. Doom tried to convince the X-Men that the Avengers were responsible for losing their universe and paints a target on Steve Roger’s back for them.

In the meantime the FF figure out what Doom’s plan is: to try and use the chaos of the universes colliding to take control of the universe himself, to bring back his mother. I imagine they’re gonna come up with some strange device to help them counteract Doom’s plan and save everyone. I imagine it’s gonna be them create a pocket universe.

Doom then manages to try and infiltrate the TVA and take control of the timelines, to which he intercepts alternate universe Loki. Defeats Loki. Doom manages to unlock unlimited power over the universe, to which Thor alone tries to confront and stop him. Doom defeats Thor, stopping his axe like in the trailer. Then, Doom accelerates the colliding of the universes. They all collide under Doom’s command, destroying everyone and bringing the end of the world, to which Doom then takes unlimited power as essentially a god. He thinks he has won. He starts to try and create a universe in his image.

However, thanks to the FF, they managed to create the pocket dimension and saved everyone through it. But they are trapped lest they come into Doom’s own universe of his making. End of the first film.

For Avengers: Secret Wars they have to finally stop Doom. I imagine they’re gonna adapt the 80s Secret Wars comic this way. They reintroduce Spider-Man and the Hulk and Dr. Strange here. They come into Doom’s new universe. Dr. Strange realizes what happens and tries to escape with the other heroes, discovers the FF’s pocket dimension. What ensues is that Doom follows them with his unlimited cosmic power and forces them into another pocket dimension, that being the Battleworld.

The X-Men are still hostile and want the Avengers and Steve Rogers dead, but the FF and the remaining heroes help and try to discover how to access Dr. Doom. Yadayada, heroes fight in the Battleworld, Doom probably brings new villains into the fold. Spider-Man gains the symbiote here. Maybe introduce some other Marvel heroes we haven’t seen yet like Spider-Woman?

Eventually leads up to a climatic battle with Dr. Doom and the FF where Doom is defeated. Franklin Richards becomes the key to all of this, with his universe manipulating power. He creates a new universe without Dr. Doom’s interference, and restores the homes of those who suffered incursions. MCU Reboot happens. The end.

This all sounds plausible except for the really big problem of Robert Downey Jr. being the one playing Doctor Doom. There is a 95% chance this is not just Doctor Doom, but an alternate universe Tony Stark, who through whatever combination of alternate history events ended up as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.

Assuming the writers have learned from Multivrse of Madness and decided to be the least bit consistent, Doom’s motivations now have to be viewed through the lens of Tony Stark. I wouldn’t be too surprised if we get an origin flashback at the start where he drops a corny “I am Doom” in the same vein as “I am Iron Man” from so long ago. Your premise could actually be a tolerable if not outright decent pair of movies, but I don’t think the writers will ever learn.

The franchise is cooked either way. Reboot everything and you lose the legacy audience; don’t reboot everything and you’re stuck with the terrible decision making of the last decade that lead to this nightmare. It’s time to put a fork in the MCU and let it simmer for a while.

You could be right, yet I feel like that’s exactly what they want us to think. What everyone is expecting. And don’t get me wrong I’m in the doomsday doomer camp where I think this is gonna suck and kill the MCU, but on this one instant, I am convinced he’s not gonna be a Tony Stark variant.

Probably because there is no realistic explanation in any scenario where Victor Von Doom happens to look physically identical to Tony Stark.

…unless they keep him behind the mask the entire time, in which case why even cast RDJ if you’re not going to actually use him?

While true, they’ve had actors return in the MCU. Josh Brolin played both Cable and Thanos, for example. Ebon Moss-Bachrach played David Lieberman in the Punisher TV show (yes, the TV shows are MCU canon) and returned to play The Thing. Back to Brolin, he never showed his proper face in the MCU, he was CGI’fied for Thanos.

I don’t really count that because he was unrecognizable as Thanos, but fair

I didn’t watch the shows so I wouldn’t know :man_shrugging:

See that’s precisely my point. If RDJ is behind the mask all the time, he could potentially just play Victor Von Doom. In the trailer, he’s doing the slavic accent for it. If this is a Stark variant, why would he be slavic, and possibly born in an Eastern European country instead of America?

Unless, of course, perhaps Steve Rogers going back in time causes some messed up reality where Stark’s parents are killed by the Winter Soldier while in Latveria and he, as a baby, is picked up by Cynthia von Doom who adopts him, and we see this version of Stark grow up into Victor von Doom (with that name, since he would be adopted and renamed) and realize it’s Cap’s fault for his life being terrible.

That being said, my original plot thread could be tweaked slightly based off motivation but remain the same. But it’s all a guess.

Quite plausible.
What is certain…an apparent quote from Kevin Feige confirmed in “business terms” what in essence is a soft reboot. I feel as if it will primarily focus on smoothing out an entrance for Fox’s X-Men as an excuse for new films.

Then that’s a horrific waste of $100 million.

Keep in mind this is also an alternate universe he comes from, meaning anything is possible with or without Steve Rogers doing anything. Steve Rogers causing the incursions as you stated has a serious issue in that Captain America proceeds to get old and return to the main universe/timeline, which would not have happened if the universe rebooted or if his presence there caused the multiverse to fall apart. Meaning, this is almost certainly a different Steve Rogers we’re looking at.

Or, worse, a Steve Rogers created by Doom after a possible takeover of the multiverse, a collateral result of merging them all into one or reforming them into his own.

Regardless, if we do get a Jonathan Hickman Secret Wars take, it better have the same fashion of ending; that being I’m not spoiling the 2015 comic run go read it yourself whoever clicked on this :triumph:

Scoop from San Diego Comic Con: Seems like there is the costume of a Latverian Witch. More evidence suggesting that Dr. Doom’s mother (she is a witch in the comics) is going to be involved. We’re either seeing adopted variant Doom or Dr. Doom proper.

Fun fact, posting LEGO leaks on the Boards is strictly prohibited, but talking about them is totally fine, as long as no images or links to images are added.

So… I’ve seen the set leaks, as I assume many of you also have. So far there’s no clear indicator of any kind of X-Men/Captain America cross-conflict, although one set features Mystique engaged in generic combat with another figure I can’t quite recognize. The only character it seems to resemble is Nebula, but I can’t tell for certain, and it would be strange to have Nebula in particular fighting the mutants.

Regardless, it’s going to be quite the fun time explaining how Doom is getting around so quickly to appear in every set with wildly differing environments and characters present. Unless he happens to show up late to the exact location the heroes are already at, like Thanos did.

To be fair I wrote my little prediction with no regard to leaks because I have not seen them. I was just going off the trailer. Lol.

Also throw my earlier statement in the trash, because the witch costume has changed colors throughout the days. First to yellow, and then purple today. There is likely going to be a coven of witches related to Dr. Doom. It makes me wonder if Doom is going to take some variant characters under his servitude, like Sylvia for the green witch and perhaps Clea (the lady at the end of Dr. Strange 2) as the purple one? But then, who is yellow?

I mean it’s pretty close :man_shrugging:

Sometimes friends and their predictions can be silly.

Ryan Gosling…Ghost Rider. Black Panther III with David Jonsson as Black Panther…Oh, and Fantastic 4’s HERBIE is here. Deadpool in his X-Force Suit? How is this all connected to Doomsday? Yet, I beseech thee, Disney, spare us a bowl of official information regarding Starfighter. These claims of adapting Cade from Star Wars: Legacy are getting out of hand.

I present to thee another photograph for use in humourous conversation.

This actually sounds incredibly peak.

This is the second time Ryan Gosling has been cast in an attempt to save a dying franchise because they have nothing else left. I’m beginning to notice a trend.

Hopefully it works out for them :grimacing:

So, I was wrong :pensive:

That’s Nightcrawler I was staring at. Probably couldn’t recognize him because he looks nothing like himself.

But if the Sentinels are working for Doom… why do they look like that? :imp:
