Best Of LEGO Bootlegs

I kindof want to try my hand at making my own weird photoshopped bootleg bionicle boxart

Bruh, who payed those cosplayers?

I like how this time they didn’t even bother making a fake Lego logo, there’s just an empty space where it should be.

I’d also like to point out that the original set had 132 pieces, so apparently this one has 12 more?

I’ve seen some bootlegs that have the minifig arms and hands detached so maybe it’s counting those?

they included 12 of those power punch pieces probably

This is hilarious to me. Did they get three people to do that (in which case, why are you even making bootlegs if you’ll go to that effort, and who agreed to do it‽) or did you steal the photo from the internet (which seems to negate the point of avoiding copyright infringement in the first place)? :stuck_out_tongue:

I also think it’s rather amusing that they didn’t take the usual, “piggy-back” route and name the product “Barry Snotter” or something - they decided they’d rather just rename the series entirely. :stuck_out_tongue:

Both these facts are weird, when you think about it. Most bootlegs try to make it obvious what they’re ripping off by mimicking the original as closely as they dare (sometimes flat-out stealing logos) and simply trying to compete with Lego as another building toy for that product. This has unashamedly gone straight for the jugular and decided it also wants to compete with the licensed franchise itself, by branding itself as a completely different wizard series that happens to have the exact same aesthetic as Harry Potter. :stuck_out_tongue:

no I’m not overthinking this what do you mean

Jasmiel there looks like she constantly wears a bodysuit from the neck down and got the most wack tan lines as a result.

why did they go to the trouble of changing the color of her tail or the photoshopped stock image but didn’t try to get the skin tone of the head to match the skin tone of the body?

It seems like Invasion from Below and G2 decided to have a baby together…

These are kind of neat. I could imagine the Okotans building these mech suits to defend themselves when the toa are away. I might head-canonize them.

Wow, those are very cool. And the previous ones too. I mean:

  • unique pieces
  • they just look cool
  • they have tons of shooters and maybe other functions

I think that some ideas were also taken from Chima buildable figures (Vizuna’s mech’s shield arm). Maybe I actually will buy a bootleg, first time in >10 years…
Does anyone know of a shop where those can be found? Couldn’find myself.

It’s hard to tell with the size of these images but I imagine a good chunk of those are just photoshop edits that aren’t even in the actual sets.
