You’re forgetting: the entire 2010 story was reworked. Maybe those were remnants of that change.

True. The spiders seen in the background look very different from the LoSS. Maybe we’ll get to see them in the summer wave.

Pohatu’s gold mask is either from the bright glow of the Golden Mask of Stone or the animators made a coloring mistake.

Hey guys… Summer predictions??
I’m guessing that Lego could create a Takanuva set, complete with a rani to ride on an a hidden protector of light, then a vehicle set with Tahu in a vehicular form (Akin to 2008 vehicle forms) with the MoC at the front.
Then, add 3 sets with 2 villains and 1 vital protector in each, like…
Fire villain and Ice villain+PoF jr.
Stone villain and Earth villain+ Ekimu w/ protector mask
So on and so forth, you get the idea.
I feel that LEGO should hold off on adding Takanuva this early in the story. We still have much to learn about the six Masters who have just arrived on Okoto.

the protectors think he is dead, but according to the narrator guy, he is in a coma
The animations never made it clear on whether Ekimu was dead or unconscious. I believe he is dead, but lives on in spirit form.

If we’re going to see Takanuva its going to be summer 2016 at best.
As for summer sets my guesses are we might get some scorpion-like creature similar to LoSS. I really got nothing other than that for now.

Takanuva seems a possibility, he’s like the second most recognisable Bionicle character so would make sense for him to be included. Either titan or toa sized… unsure…

A villain set, likely titan sized to help balance-out the odds. This set either includes the Mask Of Creation or the Mask Of Control as we’ll probably get a different main mask every year. Probably the most expensive set in the year. Could possibly be Makuta as his ‘Mask Hoarder’ description implies he may be out his Coma now…

Just2Good (the guy that ‘leaked’ Bionicle catalog entries and stuff on Reddit) is starting to release info on some Summer 2015 sets: Ninjago, Mindcraft, and a Technic set. So I guess it’s just a matter of time before we get some info on the next wave of Bionicle figures.
As for the Takanuva showing up in said next wave, I sorta doubt it. We have yet to establish a ‘Takua’ character (maybe…that little Villager that we all saw), and I read somewhere that Lego’s trying not to bring many old characters from G1 into G2.

OK so because the little protector is the only actual kid we have seen so far ,and he keeps showing up its safe to say he is an important character. I personally want Takanuva to show up and be the same Takanuva one that was in G1, just like I want the Toa Mata to be the same ones that were in G1 there’s just no proof that they are and it might not be the best thing to bring in the same Takanuva ether. If Lego brings in all their hero’s from the Mataverse then that means even if there is an amnesia thing the Toa have there’s still all this character info that is still there they have to acknowledge and work around. Also that’s a lot of story info that new fans coming in would need to learn about. I think the best way to have Takanuva show up would be if the little protector were to become Takanuva. We probably wouldn’t get a Takanuva set until late 2016 early 2017 and the character would probably not be exactly the same. Due to how important time looks like it is going to be it is more likely that instead of being a Toa of light meant to fight a being of shadow ,he will be a Toa of time fighting whatever overall villain there is at the time. He might still act the same but he will still be very much different.
