BIONICLE 2016 Discussion Topic

I honestly have to think that the ‘disorganization’ occurred because the line was failing to sell as well as LEGO had hoped that it would. This would likely have been from Bionicle’s launch. If three years had originally been planned, then the theme must have underperformed so much that it caused LEGO to change plans and thus led to cuts in production, etc.

They are a company. Of course they only care about profit. The whole reason Bionicle existed was to make money.

But if thats the case, which is highly likely, they should have had backup plans. You think a company like this after numerous experiences to learn from would have had backup closure plan for such situations.

If they strive for quality, cancelling it in such an obviously visually abrupt way does not say anything close to a “quality” decision.

Out of all of the people part of the Bionicle group, the ones that were the best were the set designers, they did an amazing job with the limitations put forth. The second would be the concept art team.

The rest were ether okey, acceptable, meh, bleh, or horrible.

You can criticize LEGO for any mismanagement that might have lead to this. But you can’t say that they don’t care. You of course can say they only care about profit because… duh that’s all that a business is supposed to care about, you can’t fault them for it. But they certainly do care. Bionicle was brought back, and that was great regardless of it’s faults. We gained so much as a community from this, and that’s the best part in the end. This gave me an opportunity to meet people, create new projects, and go new directions in the fandom I never would have been able to go. That part of Bionicle is far far from over as well. I’m going to brickfair in just a bit to meet TTV and that’ll be great, I have plans for numerous Bionicle themed projects in the future, and plan to stick around in the community like I did the last time Bionicle was over. This is really disappointing, but there are worse things in the world, and we got way more good than harm out of it in the end.

Of course they cared, they just didnt care enough is whats the problem, buuuut Im okey with what I got, not happy, just okey.

An almost net neutral feeling/situation leaning a bit towards positive is still positive at the end of the day.

At least I got the last Ekimu vs Kulta set in my country and that was worth it by my opinion. Not for Kulta, he is okey, but Ekimu is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I actually am very interested in that idea…

I think if we get another constraction theme, it will have something to do with mechs. It’s the only way they can create a character that doesn’t look weird out of ccbs. It also allows them to market it more as a “system” theme as they can include minifigres.

Well if you think about it: (Spoiler!)The Toa returned to their star/planets which are each probably of a certain element. And Slizers (at least one version of the story) had different elemental planets in it so… Bionicle G2 is a continuation of Slizers confirmed! :smile:/s

Just think about all the kids without Netfix. To them, the story ended abruptly. The last widely accessible story was Escape from The Underworld.

G1’s finale was told in a book, Comics, and the MAta Nui Blog. It was hard to miss.

G2’s finale? Only a certain group of fans will ever see how it ended.

That sucks.

Not to mention Asian and Oceania kids with no access to the internet shops got screwed over with obtaining the last wave. That to me is even worse.
