That’s because Ninjago was actually pretty darn successful in it’s first year.
I doubt BIONICLE got as much sales as Ninjago.

But, Ninjago had the exact same plan as Bionicle and Bionicle’s ending was confirmed to not be due to the 3 year plan or the sales. But, Ninjago had it’s continuation due to the fan demand so, if there’s enough demand we could at least get the Makuta set.

Honestly, if you guys think you can pull of a Ninjago with this one, you’re headed down the wrong path. Lego already gave a statement. They mean what they said.

We’re not trying to pull off a ninjago. We’re trying to get a satisfying conclusion to a theme that means a lot to us. This isn’t about some grand return, it’s about the release of one set that we’ve wanted so badly. I don’t understand why it bothers you so much that were trying to fight for something we care about. Would you actually rather not have a makuta set?

I would love it.
But Lego is a company that has made a decision not to give us the set, and you guys should respect that. It’s simply not gonna happen.
Generation 2 should serve as a reminder of LEGO’s attempt at a constraction theme that tried to put a good effort, but ultimately failed.
Let’s keep it peaceful as it ends, please. Trying to get Lego to make a set with a petition is obnoxious. I simply don’t think it’s gonna happen.

Just because you don’t believe something will work doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. If you find it obnoxious, then don’t participate. But please don’t put down others efforts to fight for change that they want to see.

I’m just trying to warn you, it won’t get very far.
Unless you get 10k folks a day, then yeah, Lego won’t care. Bionicle was cancelled due to, once again, alleged poor sales. You need to assure them a profit.
I don’t think it will work. At all. And I will also tell you not to spam it here, please. Best of luck, but do not get your hopes up.

@Eljay trust me, my hopes are not up, but that will not stop me from trying. Crazier things have happened in the past, and if there’s a sliver of a chance that any of this will make any difference, I will make the effort. Like I said to @chronicler anyone telling me it won’t work, no matter who it is won’t change my mind one bit.

I find it naive to believe there is a chance. You’re not speaking Lego’s language with a petition. And you’re free to do what you will, just don’t spam it here or bring it up every day. That is all.

I find it naive to believe there isn’t. I’m not going to force this down people’s throats everyday, but do you honestly believe that if Lego were to release one last set of makuta, that it wouldn’t sell just as well as the 2015 Toa? There’s a chance for everything, and I believe every signature on that petition helps. Maybe in the end there was no point to any of what I’m trying to do. But I can say I made the best effort I could, and I think some of you should want to be able to say that too.

I’ve been down this road before, pal. This isn’t the first Bionicle cancellation rodeo I’ve been to. I’m not trying to be a downer for you, I’m trying to be realistic because I’m speaking from experience.
I 100% believe a Makuta set would not sell as well as the 2015 Toa. Absolutely. Because there’d be no marketing, it’d have to be designed, produced, marketed and sold all within the span of 2 months. And they won’t do that. They announced that Bionicle is over. After this, they can’t go back and release anything else. It wouldn’t make any sense to the public. And a petition which will not get 500k signatures in a week will not convince or assure Lego that there is a profit to be made with that line. It simply isn’t the case.
Again, I’ve been through this. TTV started when Bionicle G1 ended. We were there for all the BBB’s and petitions and the like. They do not work. There was a petition for a Makuta set back then, too. For the Matoran Universe controlled by Makuta.
Do you see that set now?

No, I don’t see that set now, because not every situation is the same. That makuta set would’ve never been released even if bionicle had continued, it just wouldn’t work. They had to fight to even get the stars on store shelves, and now I’m trying to fight to get something that Lego planned, something that they had prototype molds for, into a limited release for the multiple fans who want it.
The main reason things like this never happen is because people like you are never willing to make the effort to speak loud enough. I lived through g1s cancellation as well, but I was actually satisfied enough with that ending that I never made a contribution. This time is different.
The chance we do have is unbelievably slim, but it’s there. This will probably all mean nothing, and nothing I’ve said will matter one bit, but I care enough to try my best anyways.

You don’t see that set now because these petitions don’t work. Toa Mata Nui (the titan set) is basically the same design as the MU, so that model would have worked without any issue. Additionally, that is an assumption. The Makuta “sets” we saw were MOCs. It’s been confirmed that they were combo models. Not actually planned out sets. Designs for things =/= sets.
That is wrong. It’s because there isn’t enough volume in our fan base to warrant it. Ninjago was cancelled, but 50k calls by parents (the real consumer of Lego) per day convinced Lego to keep it going. It is now an evergreen theme. There is no difference between this ending and G1’s.
I don’t know where you believe this chance exists. I am open to hearing it, however.

Are you trying to tell me that Lego never planned to release a makuta set with their 2017 line up? And that they put the money in to make a new mold just for this contest?
You must understand that this is possible wether it’s at all likely or not. If enough of us put our voices out there we can influence decisions. Even if they wouldn’t make a set, a large outcry could still lead to polybags, instructions or heck even more images of the jto design. It never hurts to try, no matter what odds are stacked against you.
Remember why gen2 existed in the first place.

The chance to do this exists for the same reason that we got the Stars: because of the designers and the fans wanting to give this a last hurrah, if you will.
They already have a great model ready, people have already seen it, and it’s right here:
If they released this, mask and all, people would go nuts over it. I certainly would want one to re-enact the end of JtO in a way that just isn’t beams shooting at each other until someone wins. We could give Makuta a character and a voice with this set that he never had in the story proper.
I’m all for a chance, ANY chance to get a final Makuta set made with the Mask of Ultimate power, and this would at least placate the line, and heck, make it all worth it for some if not most of the Bionicle fans from G1-G2 or either. Makuta is not only the pivotal villain of both, but a nuanced and tragic character that just wants to be noticed in a sea of people greater than he. I think that some of us feel the same way as he does, albeit without the power-hungry ambition.
Eljay, I love this site, and what it has become. This, along with other sites, has become my main news source for Bionicle as well as a great discussion board. Please don’t mitigate that by quashing our hopes and wishes to end this Bionicle Generation with a fantastic Makuta set.
After all, to quote Toa Tahu: “Where wisdom and valor fail, all that remains is faith. And it can overcome all.” Our faith in not only LEGO but this last set COULD possibly overcome LEGO’s decision to stop producing new sets. All we have to do is believe in ourselves.
