I think for the final designs they merged the three.
I love these creature concepts so much, I’ve made my own canon that incorporates them: The Creatures being in danger of being hunted made them desperate. Once beings of formidable physical appearance and elemental power, they split into four weaker beings, one being a younger, smaller version of the Creature that retains their original name. These four creatures spread out to the north, south, east, and west of each region. The Toa will be tasked with gaining each “spirit”. While three provide the Toa with more physical abilities, such as armor or flight, the fourth will provide elemental powers and the ability to transform into a hybrid: half-Toa, half-beast.
It’s a bit of a rocky headcanon, but I really do like the concepts a lot. It could be like a quest for masks but with animal spirits instead.

i think i figured out this image’s meaning:
first image: Makuta/Portal to the shadow realm
second image: Makuta forging the Mask of Ultimate power
Third image: the toa landing on Okoto and begining their quest
fourth image: the toa uniting their power to close the portal
thats atleast what im guessing these images might mean.

Man G2 coulda been awesome, special and very unique…but no that didn’t really happen in the end. Glad we at least got some great sets as it is but man they could have been on a whole other level

And some of them seem to be made pretty much entirely of already existing pieces!
For example this amazing one
6 stud shooters, EV3 blades, Skull mask, swivel waist frame, 2015 add-on skull spider legs, HF 2.0 spikes, translucent bones, HF 2.0 feet (maybe???), Toa Master chest piece.

Ketar totally should have been a rattlesnake with a saw on its tail. That unity with Pohatu would’ve looked amazing!!! Or at least for me it would’ve. Not that I hate the current one that much of course.

that, with all of the other unity forms of the creatures, all reminds me of the Unicron Trilogy with Optimus Prime’s many power-up forms:
… yeah i could not find any other ones that were in good quality or with sound.
anyway, yeah, this is what the Elemental creatures unity form reminds me off.
