Hey, I’m the queen of bad jokes here? Anyone remember how Pohatus colors make him look…stoned?

Ruining your day aside, I feel like we are getting off topic so…if you had to choose only two sets for day one who would the be?

And yeah, @Eljay recap review was the first ever ttv videos I watched.

This has been a fun year. Being a part of this community has been a ride from the beginning to the end, and it shows no sign of stopping. Well wishes to everyone for a happy New Year! May you never step on a brick and find that one piece you’re looking for!

Umarak and Ikir. They’re my day one purchases anyway

I can see the good and the bad of this year. Keep in mind, I don’t own any Toa, only Umarak and Ikir, but I feel they get me pretty close to the experience.

####The Good:

  • Colors: Not only do we see the return and longevity of the brighter colors from the original Bionicle years, but we get to see noew ones added in to make them more interesting. The azure from Gali last year comes back and has, at least to me, found a better color combo with orange. The burnt orange, while scarce on Pohatu, is a welcome return, and even the dark tan is a bit brighter than the old brown. All in all, the color choices as a whole (not the individual piece ones, but I’ll get into it later) really get across the magical, elemental powers.
  • Builds: We get a new torso piece with a much welcome funtion, not to mention the option to combine this year’s function with 2016’s. Technic is brought back to some great degree, which I feel a good portion of the community enjoys. Everything is complex and intuitive, and now I sometimes have to look at the instructions to see how to build something! It’s a plus to me and a good amount of the community to see the return of complex, even custom, builds.
  • Uniqueness: We’ve seen animals and Toa before, but I think the overall theme of jungle hunting and wildlife is something completely unique in Bionicle and is well pulled off. Umarak is nothing like any Bionicle villain we’ve ever seen, and the idea of Unity is brought forth in a whole new way.

####The Bad:

  • Individual Design Choices: Rapid Fire time.
    • Chest pieces too detailed and specialized
    • Red and blue pins on everyone but Gali
    • Pohatu’s lack of substantial burnt orange
    • Poorly executed weapon choices (Pohatu and Lewa)
    • Almost everyone gets the new sword piece
    • Kopaka’s gold
    • Some articulation problems
    • Flat profiles
    • Proportions are off

But I personally feel these are all very trite problems when compared to the bigger things 2016 does right. Many little things versus a few big things.

I feel it balances out, if not the good outweighs the bad. Plus, look at the hype of people trying to get these sets! Some aren’t even particularly fond of some sets but are still frantically trying to find them before they come out!

That to me qualifies a success in some way!

If thats so? Anyway what do you hate the most about ketar? My main issue with him is…ke tar’t work well

I would say the Onua joke, but @Tarvaax said it had a hidden mening that to this day I can’t find

So do you guys think, is there any possibility for Terak to be female just like Korgot? I don’t think Onua would mind it

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to phoenixes, Ikir a lot.

well, I don’t think they even have genders, but if I had to choose for one of em to be a girl it would be either Uxar of Melum

And @Toa_Maleko you missed an opportunity

When it comes to Tahus unity…I likir a lot

I haven’t posted on the boards in a while, but as the 2016 sets are here, I’ll give my thoughts on them.
Onua: This is the holy grail of Bionicle G2. I’d be incredibly surprised if they ever surpassed this design. it improves on what people didn’t like about the 2015 version, while simultaneously sticking with what people did like. it completely eclipses the other 2016 sets.

Pohatu: The one I have the second strongest feelings on. unfortunately, those feelings are the opposite of the ones I have for Onua. This thing sucks. it’s garbage. the proportions are whacky, the colors are slapped on, and they took away his awesome weapons and gave him the ugly 2016 blade on a spear and gave him a rock because “Hey, 2001, people love that. maybe people will ignore the rest of the garbage if they see that!”

Kopaka: meh. his elbows are way too thin and his mask is weird, but there’s not a ton wrong with him. definitely not an improvement on 2015, but it’s not a ton worse.

Gali: Probably my second favorite Toa. she manages to maintain most of what made her set great in 2015. I’d put the two sets on pretty much the same level.

Tahu: He looks like a flame. And that’s really, really, good. Unfortunately, the rest of the set is really, really, bad. his neck is too long, his swords are lame, and the proportions look really really, weird to me.

Lewa: His mask doesn’t work for me. it’s weird and just doesn’t feel like Lewa to me. his swords are ok, and I do like his legs a bit, but overall the set just feels bland to me.

The Creatures: They’re actually pretty cool. with tons of play value and really unique designs.

Umarak: he looks menacing, I guess. I like the bow. that’s really all that I have to say about him.

Overall, I feel like the wave sucks.
