BIONICLE 2016 Discussion Topic

Interesting that the BIONICLE site hasn’t been updated yet…not even a Facebook post…

Maybe they’re waiting 'till the weekend’s over?

Search the set numbers and they’ll appear.

I saw that video early, I wanted to post it (but yeah read only mode) so you guys could see that lewa, which is awesome and that onua, he fixed the arms on both, and tried to fix the use of gold on tahu

They dont instantly update the sites for the new year. It can take a while before they update it. Days, weeks. Depends on whats priority.

it shouldn’t matter where I am (netherlands) its unacceptable that a 15 dollar toa is a 15 + something euro here when a 20dollar toa is 20 euro.

Like it can’t be shipping costs because from denmark to here should be alot less expensive than to america.

worse the stores in my city are awfull and don’t lower prices. they still have HF IFB sets for full prices here.

For anyone interested, here’s a link to the sets that Lego designer John Ho worked on along with some of his comments regarding the sets: Stuff that I worked on :) | Happy new year everyone! As it i… | Flickr

"Stuff that I worked on
Happy new year everyone! As it is a new year, new products has arrived! This year I mainly work on LEGO Bionicle products, and they are as follow
Hope you will enjoy building/playing with them as much we enjoy designing them! Cheers!

71303:Ikir Creature of Fire
71304:Terak Creature of Earth
71308:Tahu Uniter of Fire
71309:Onua Uniter of Earth
71311:Kopaka and Melum - Unity set

P.S. Some personal remarks

The uniter pieces on Tahu and Kopaka’s legs are meant for MOC builder to build their own Hero and Creatures without taking too much away from the original figures. That’s why they come in both colors.

Kopaka shoulder design was a reference to the original G1 design, as using the Ball-cup joint to connect the arms.

And, the last thing  My personal favourite, is Ikir."

I just bought the new Tahu at the Barnes and Noble in Springfield, MO yesterday for any in that area wanting some sets early. They were out of Umarak, but had every other set. Well now they’re out of Tahu, because I bought the last one, so every other set that isn’t Tahu and Umarak.

Now, here are my thoughts on the set after having it in-hand:
He’s… not the BEST G2 set in the world, his proportions are wonky, but they ARE more likable to me than 2015 Tahu’s wonky proportions. He feels like an overall improvement, but there are things that hinder him from being my absolute favorite. That said, he is a GOOD set, in fact I feel like his character shines through better than it did in 2015. You can feel the anger of his scowl, and the firey rage seems to flow through his body. I think the set really shows off Tahu’s personality. He just sadly isn’t AS good proportionally or cohesively as sets like Gali Master or Umarak.

I should get the rest of the sets by next Friday, so expect my opinions on those as well.

Edit: He’s already REALLY starting to grow on me. He’s extremely fun to play with (I just had him surprise skewer Kulta with his extendable fire swords), and I like to imagine that his swords are “sheathed” in their neutral position, and that when they’re extended fire just shoots out. His weapons seem really brutal, and I love him for that. I also really like his leg design. I know a lot of people don’t, but they really hit me in the nostalgia. Something about them just feels… right despite being weird and a no-no. :stuck_out_tongue:

So I read somewhere that ANY creature can unite with ANY toa. And I just had to try it with the toa that I have and Melum.

Chima fire and ice waves anyone?

Onua and albino Terak Melum

You know…it actually doesn’t look THAT bad.

Believe it or not, the first sets that I united together were Tahu and Terak :stuck_out_tongue:

So the uniter pieces are meant to be replaceable, as they were originally included for extra parts for mocs. I already guessed they were thrown in there to in order to have more of them. It seems interesting to me that he also designed some of the star wars constraction figures. He’s done well with Kopaka and Onua, two of the better Toa of this year. Of course his creatures are the highlights, being amazing and all. It’s a shame Tahu is built to be moc fodder, with all those add ons.

@Toa_Taruho Thanks for the link!

My suspicions about the Unity piece being used in those areas were half right. I had a feeling there was another reason they were put there, but I’m happy I was wrong about the intention.

The Kopaka comment seems a bit iffy. I mean, every Toa’s arm was connected to a nuva hand back in the day. I think it was more to do with the Vorox armor not being able to hold a socket in the orientation they wanted.

Totally agree with him on favorite creature.

Can’t wait to get the sets myself. Looking forward to mixing and matching powers!

I have to say I’m really liking the Unity Piece placement on Tahu’s thighs. It reminds me very much of the Inika thigh armor AND the thigh pieces themselves. I know a lot of people don’t like that, but I’m all for it.

Oh, and a tip: DON’T TAKE THE PELVIS PIECE OUT MORE THAN ONCE. It’ll lose a lot of friction the second time you do it. I’m fine with it, because I like the function, but I know some don’t so I’m just warning you guys.

Well, the sets have appears on Amazon.co.uk, though there is a catch. It says they won’t be dispatched until 3-6 weeks. I’m hoping this changes, and I assume it will.

so yeah

“John Ho
ツAsrielツ It is for the heavy hammer of Onua, as he need to be able to hold it only with his right arms. The restricted ball joint provide more support comparing with the open balljoint build. We have different product test in the process and that was the only way to make sure it can be support by one hand, even after the test…”

thats why onua has a restricted arm and a normal one
