I agree that it’s impressive how they were able to get away with just poorly editing Lego’s own art together and tracing over it, but in some places it becomes extremely apparent just how little thought was put in
There’s several places where characters are edited into places where they clearly don’t fit, such as Zuko in the Lava Chamber Gate, Nexus Astronaut in his own spaceship, etc
But by far the worst is Lego Club Max being pasted into this Agents dinghy
Also this orc in the bottom right corner is particularly egregious
He’s taken directly from this stock photo here… the egregious part is that the section of the dwarf’s axe which overlaps his sword is still there in the book

I think you all are massively overestimating the amount of effort that Lego is going to put into what is essentially a random showcase of their old sets; I would be highly impressed if someone redrew all of those old sets from scratch in new poses.

Jerminator’s right; while the inclusion of the axe head on the sword is a bit silly, you’re talking about tons of individual illustrated minifigures, and the majority of them are in all-new poses, as well as a good amount of non-minfigures, including Bionicle sets and large-scape buildings.
And most of the drawings are completely original ones with no reused perspectives.
Considering how small the amount of people who have ever been on the Boards that can draw even half as well as the illustrations in the book are done really is, I think asking that LEGO ramp up the quality control by making this artist crunch even more on a limited budget and schedule is just a little bit presumptuous. Like, sure, EVERY illustration could be a brand-new perspective and not be based on an existing asset LEGO has produced, but also consider: if that was the case, would you actually buy the product?
I know I wouldn’t. This book just isn’t for me, and I’m not a LEGO collector. But I still really appreciate all the hard work that went into drawing every single asset used here, even if a good amount of them are stylized tracings, because there’s still quality and care put into most of the ones that are.
Plus, you expect a new perspective for every set in the book, when those sets include two of the biggest Power Miners sets and Sentai Fortress? Me, I’m just happy we got the large green troll holding the decapitated head of a duck, proving cruelty to animals exists in the LEGO universe

Legoland California remade Miniland to now include the San Diego area (which, all things considered, is a good change. Before, I believe it was Louisiana).
They had this really amazing model of Petco Park, which has a few sponsors over the grandstands. And, coincidentally, what should one of the sponsors be?
I’d book with them.

The scenery is great, and the locals are friendly, but I hear they’ve been having some trouble with the wildlife lately. Something about an underground zoo that got damaged in an earthquake or something.

Legoland has more Bionicle than you’d think. This picture is of the 25 years birthday cake for Legoland California. For those of you who don’t know, there’s a ride that is still around called “Bionicle Blaster.” It’s a spinning teacup style ride, and around the perimeter of it there are 3 statues of the Toa Nuva - Gali, Lewa, and Tahu. Well, looks like they aren’t going anywhere! They still appear on the cake.
Additionally, in the Lego Factory tour, there is a short cartoon showing some minifigures playing around in a Lego factory. On this machine that displays how many Lego pieces are being created, you can see on the left that there are some 01 Bionicle masks. They don’t look like exclusive colors, but I’m colorblind so I very well could be mistaken.
These things were also hanging on the wall of the factory.

Unfortunately, I don’t. They were really high up on the cake and I couldn’t get my camera to focus well enough.
I have alternate angles and some that show a bit more, but if you’re trying to build them I don’t think my pictures will help at all.

These are all the pictures I took. And, from what I remember, those hips were build around this part so you can try to start there.
The cake should be up for a while longer as well, so theoretically someone else may post pictures of it (who knows, maybe we’ll be seeing Duckbricks returning to Legoland). Additionally, the model was made by the Master Model Builders that work AT the park, so the models will probably get moved to their workshop once the cake is retired.

Something interesting, however; that piece for the elbow and upper arm is one static piece. Does anyone know what it might be?
