Very well presented. I’m still not sure I agree with merging the two contests, but you’ve provided some very good points that have definitely made me question my position.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all to have some sort of separate, ongoing poll to allow other artists who don’t win these contests to provide their own interpretation of the winning art. Take, for example, the Certavus page on BS01, which contains multiple forms of art, all interpreted from the winning MOC.

It might be better, in that case, for the admins of BS01 to consider opening up a thread for art submissions throughout the community, for the purpose of beefing up the galleries of characters that have only a few images. It could be a nice way to have some sort of ongoing contribution based off of the winning contestants.

Hello everyone, So I decided to have a go at drawing Helryx and designing a possible mask for her. [Helryx-CC_Art_July_2020_V2] For the mask I decide to go with the design which is simple but still matches the armour that Moc uses. I also threw in some early 2001 mask shaping. [Helryx-CC_Art_July_Mask_2020] I hope you guys like it! Update: A small visual fix to the main image’s backgound and tweak to the lighting to see the details better.

Yo brothers. I drawed the mask spontaneously and constantly modifying it, but the only thing that remained untouched was the breathing mask. I decided to add him because I wanted to organically fit the tubes into the image of the mask. soo … in the photo you see what eventually turned out (I added a third “meme” picture, simply because I can, it’s not prohibited by the rules.) Hello, here are my art contest illustrations: Mask of Psychometry: [MASK OF PSYCHOMETRY GREENTOATAVOHK2] Helryx wearing Mask of Psychometry: [TOA HELRYX GREENTOATAVOHK2] Helryx with background: [TOA HELRYX GREENTOATAVOHK2 backdrop] the mask was inspired by Ancient Greek Corinthian helmets because I wanted the mask to look ancient in design. Toa Nokama’s Great Rau was also inspiration because I wanted the Mask of Psychometry to look aquatic, as well as because Nokama was a Toa Metru before the Toa Mata arrived on Mata Nui island. My schedule is kinda hectic so I’m shooting a moving target here. Removed the hose intakes on the mask to give it a more streamlined look. I imagine the crown piece as being a sort of radar dish for receiving and transmitting psychic energies. The side view was very difficult to draw, so may not entirely make physical sense. In such cases the front view takes priority.

Allright, here is my entry to the art contest. It may look a bit weird, but bare with me - I had a reason for such design choices. [Хелрикс финал] And here is the mask reference sheet: [Маска] Ok, now for the explanation: The challenge of envisioning the design of Helryx comes with the idea that she is the very first Toa , very primitive and somewhat fragile. So with this in mind I came to conclusion that her armor should resemble shells of very early creatures, like crustaceans from the Cambrian period - time when Earth was completely covered with ocean, and first complex life forms started emerging (and most of them were like crayfish, shrimp and other little guys with shells). And that most important is - this Cambrian theme fits very well with Helryx being ancient, and being a To…
