see I mostly agree with you that it is worrying for future contests but I want to point out it is spelled precedent

eljay and Meso admitted their mistakes, and it doesnât have to happen again next time. Not all contests can be perfect.
Of course, in order to prevent that, eljay needs to find someone to help him. Thatâs what I think.
As far as I remember, someone pointed out, but i donât think they saw it properly.
There are not enough people.
I believe we covered the purpose of Tarkurâs statement.
If his intent was understood then all we have to do is agree or disagree or this can quickly cascade into a carousal argument
I agree with him that it be an important point to remember and in hopes that the mods seek help in their endeavors in the future when necessary but I wonât further comment on this point because I know we could loop this point for hours or days
Idk man, I donât think this wouldâve been a good solution. There was enough controversy with the Helryx vote. Imagine the outroar if they just changed the results after they had been officially announced.
I think they handled this the right way.
Agreed. Eljay and Meso are clearly too busy to properly handle these contests themselves. They need more help.
tbh I think its hard to judge how well hagah contest went without the art vote yet. I know I will probably vote for art where bomonga actually looks coherent next to the other hagah and not one where bomonga next to norik looks like the rock next to me lol
I donât really agree here since we are dealing with the same creator. People were upset because they thought TTV had a bias towards doubleâs helryx because A they voted on it and B are close friends with Double outside the boards.
I donât think as many people would have seen it as a more biased move than helryx because they disqualified a moc from a creator that people previously thought they had a bias towards.
With that as Takutanuva said
This dealys and radio silence really concern me about the future of thess contests. It make me fear that the TTV staff is just tired of all the problems and extra work that imply, and they will end them after the Hagah.
I really enjoy all these contests for all the MOCs and art that people upload, but most importantly because of their relevance and discussion. Cool MOCs are uploaded all the time, but I wonât do more than giving them a like and saying âcool MOC broâ because is their interpretation and theirs alone. Instead with these canon contest, I participate in the discution to see which one fit better the character, their technices, details that I like and details I donât and read other points of view to maybe change my mind about an entry.
But at this rate the contest will be forgotten and less and less entries would participate.
all Iâm saying is if my entry was the only entry for bomonga and kualus mine would have won
Iâm curious suddenlyâŚ
We know that the use of damaged parts is not allowed.
However, for example, in the case of hoses, some short hoses (ex: hydraxonâs)are precious
some my friend buy long hoses and cut them to official size.
And they replaced the damaged or old hose.
like this way, will the use of a cut hose that fits the official size and color be allowed in this contest?
What do you all think?
I believe that cutting flex tubes was originally allowed, but they later changed the rules to forbid it.
Also welcome back, Tarkur
I mean I get it cus it is modifying parts but wouldnât the same apply to custom and painted parts too?
Painting parts doesnât permanently affect a part, whereas cutting a part does. Thatâs the rationale behind the purism rules.
I mean it really depends on the paint since lacquer paint for example affects the plastic effectively bonding it to the plastic.
soâŚ
cut hoses are not allowed. but
If cut hoses match the official size and color, it will eventually be a matter of conscience.
Because the only person who knows that the hose is cut is probably the one who used the hose.
On the topic of getting some help for Eljay and Meso, I wonder if some of the other Bionicle youtubers would be willing to help out. I know Duckbricks has already been making videos on the contests, so maybe he or others would be able/willing to shoulder some of the burden of communicating with the community. This could also potentially help the contests connect with a wider net of fans as well, kinda keep the fans united across platforms you know?
I dunno having more content creators help seems like it could just have different people all interested in tailoring the contests to get as much content out of the contests as possible vs good for the community. Not necessarily even on purpose but just subconsciously even
I hear that. I think thereâs also definitely the possibility that communicating between people running the contests could slow things down even more. Doubling the number of people doesnât necessarily double the speed at which the contests happen.
However, I think wanting content from the contests would most likely incentivize them to keep things on a schedule and moving forward. It seems pretty unlikely to me they would be incentivized to drag out the contests.
It could be worth experimenting with at least.
I mean I feel like the quality of contests and making sure the canonized appearances actually match the canon is more important than speed
I guess the point I was trying to make was that I think getting good content out of the contests would mean keeping the quality of the contests high, making sure the rules are clear and followed, that characters match their descriptions well, etc.
The idea of having official âentry checkersâ has been proposed before, and I think itâs a good idea. Melso and Eljay would still have final say on whether to allow/dq/request changed, theyâd just point out things that two presumably very busy admins might miss.
