I think it’s kinda related to this discussion… this is my quick drawing of Tuyet from the Kingdom universe that I did today. I know for sure that not many will agree with most of the design choices I made here, but this is how I’ve always imagined her.
Anyways, I may or may not base my Tuyet contest entry on it… we’ll see.
Edit: please ignore those nonsense matoran symbols on the sword, I was very tired and in a hurry
Phwoar. That’s a nice design. Chains are a nice touch, and the gold on the sword is unexpected, but also a nice touch. It adds some nice visual contrast to the rest of her. Honestly, the whole design with its intricacies and detailing are a great demonstration of why the free-for-all system should continue post-Hagah. That’s stuff you just can’t get in a MOC.
Phwoar. The axle connector is a nice touch, but my main draw to it is the carving detail in the base. It’s great proof-of-concept that the Nui Stone can be more than just a rock (or Bohrok eye, or Power Miner crystal, or etc), and why it should be allowed in some capacity in the contest. I would suggest making it look less vein-y, though. Other than that, I think it’s solid.
In general, though, this is also a great argument for why the Nui Stone should be included in the contest; one of the biggest arguments against it is that “the Nui Stone is just a boring red rock”, but this isn’t. While I plan to just use a simple crystal piece for my Tuyet entry, it’s definitely possible for the Nui Stone to be more ornate. Khingk also has a sculpted Nui Stone 3d model, and I think that these examples prove that there’s a bunch of room for creativity with the Nui Stone.
Although, if we assume that the Nui Stone is ornate like this, it might be better served being determined in the art portion, like the Kanohi. Also like the Kanohi, the MOC portion should still allow for placeholders either way.
That is what I thought, I doesn’t need to be just a red rock, like you said there is quite a lot of room for creativity, so I agree that the stone should be allowed, specially in the art portion, thanks btw.
Yes, what I meant was will a moc of her that is all teal with no side colors except base colors like black and greys be more preferable than a moc with other side colors like dark blue and vice versa.
Then by all means indulge me and everyone else with y’alls preferences. It’ll help everyone get more entries to vote on and give us a more unanimously liked design.
Tark. My guy. What the fresh hell are you on about.
There’s not much point in doing that right now when we have no entries to look at. Our preferences will be “who executes their ideas best” and “what makes the most sense with respect to canon and Bionicle’s visual style.”
Well, what I’m saying is, even if we could hypothetically have an entry catering to the preferences of everyone who sees your post, it is incredibly unlikely for it to have any kind of representation of the community as a whole.
But fine. For me, none of the things you mentioned will affect my votes, except for throwbot heads. But my criteria for voting is literally just “does it look cool and mostly fit with canon”, which is quite obviously purely subjective.
Glad to hear! If this system were implemented, would going back to previous contests and sending Greg the runner-ups for canonization be an option?
Fair enough. My thought process was that some people might not like how things like mask designs or important artifacts can affect the lore as a whole, and would thus prefer more ambiguous designs. For example, the Helryx contest produced a design for Helryx, as well as a definitive design for the mask of psychometry, a mask that is most likely not unique to Helryx.
But I understand the reasoning behind your view as well.
It’s very impressive, especially considering how quickly you made it. I look forward to seeing the moc version, should you choose to make it!
I agree with Winger, but here are my responses anyway
shorter than Hakann would be ideal
ideally she would be mostly teal + greyscale. I’d be fine with some dark green as well. Some highlight colors could potentially work, too.
Either is fine. It depends on how it’s executed
My own Lariska uses mata feet as shins, so I am definitely not opposed to this. The legs must have good articulation, however.
Don’t over-rely on them, I’d say. Mocs that use a ton of pieces from one specific set always look strange to me, so try to use a mix of tarakava and non-tarakava parts.
No opinion.
She shouldn’t look too out of place among them, but I don’t think that’ll be too hard to do. As long as it uses a few g1 pieces, she should be alright.
Nothing you’ve said here is really make-or-break for me. I have no reason to care if specific parts are used in specific areas of the build, or even whether specific parts are used in general. What’s more important to me is the execution of the build and design ideas.
calm down bro
we don’t know when even tuyet will start.
I want to call it preference
i think… the only thing that can be called skew is voting for memes like Hoseryx
Or do you really want… Lariscat?
There are many biased MOCs and certain MOC types that many people are responsive, but those factors only show people’s preferences.
Piraka is quite short than we thought, so I think it’ll be a big challenge.
I think a lot of Lariska MOCs were at least as big as hydraxon
Mine is the same, too. lol
