When was building a smaller scale G2 Toa, I was thinking about some Armor Stands I saw online, and coming after that thought, the Nexo Knights Ultimate Sets. This lead me to think of an idea that I absolutely love. It was the original gimmick of the Hero Factory sets, but it can be used in any theme, as seen in Nexo Knights; Armor and Weapon Packs.
I feel like this would be a really nice idea to have in a future constriction theme, where you have a body that you can add on to. I feel like the body would be a smaller body, using the protector torso. You can choose from two sets of armor, and a few weapons to equip it with as well. You may also have the opportunity to switch masks, and if using the CCBS system, you can switch out armor to your tastes. I just feel like it would really be the true essence of a LEGO Set. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy what LEGO is doing right now, but this feels like another thing they may want to try with another theme.
I did Tahu as my “Test Dummy” here. I used his Master Armor, Weapons, and Mask, his Uniter Armor and Mask, as well as some additional weapons; a RWBY and SW Constraction inspired three barrel gun, and a small belt that I may expand to something bigger. I really like playing around with this MOC, and I’m going to have to build more of these.
As a MOC the concept is neat, but unlike the inspiration the stand is kinda uninteresting. It’s a couple of Technic beams that don’t really look like anything. Say it had a design similar to a mask stand or pedestal or it just looked a snazzy display stand then I feel the concept could be a bit more attractive.
Now as a concept for Constraction my feelings are mixed. Nice looking stands are great but I would prefer they be supplements while the sets use as much pieces as they can to get their individual designs across.
Thanks for the input. I don’t feel like this concept would work with Bionicle that well, but this may be something good for another constraction theme. I feel like a big $30 set with a $17 Hero and some nice accessories would be really nice. I know they cannot do that for a full wave of heroes, but that could be a starter pack of sorts. The other heroes could be about $15, with another set of armor to add on, instead of the golden mask and skull spider.
As for the stand: I feel like I may just scrap the stand for the weapons, and make a really nice stand for the mask. I know it’s uninteresting, but I didn’t really think a kid would pay much attention to the stand anyways, but on the other hand I can see it as an eye-popper to a kid. So, yes, I’m still working on it, and I will update my album once I do so.
Thanks for the constructive criticism everyone. I am definitely going to work on it and see what I can do. I feel like a bigger and more customizable figure may actually work better here, with more sets of armor, shells, and weapons. This would give a more satisfying and effective product.
