This is my secondary series that will not be updated as often, but I decided to share it to the boards now that I don’t have it behind a paywall. The Blue Moon!
I would describe this as an attempt at golden age-styled comic books. She’s a bit more “pulp” than Emerald-Man, that is for sure. Blue Moon is an anti-hero, and takes place in the 1950s.
I’m excited by the addition of some characters you’ve posted here before!
Also love the hints that other superheroes exist who got their powers similarly.
The preview of Blue Moon is outstanding and beautiful. Say will you add some concepts for the comics, such as a reference to Blood Moon or a Green Moon (a phenomenon happened at the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa and the Artemis II mission)?
“And I looked, and behold a pale [original language was “pale-green”] horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”
Appreciate it. I love drawing historical clothing, even down to military clothes. Trying to make it feel authentic to the 50s as much as I can. (Though I’ve already made a few mistakes.)
Also for the Blue Moon comics, will we get some new character integrated or some creatures added, such as Moon people or maybe a Moon Rabbit? I ask because the Lunarians are a reference to the moon people like the Princess Kaguya who was born from bamboo shoots, and Moon Rabbits are a reference to “mythical figure in both East Asian and indigenous American folklore”
I won’t be riffing off Princess Kaguya or integrating moon people/rabbits, no. I request patience, because there’s a lot of things planned I have not been able to display in the series yet. So far the only aliens shown are the Plutonians. I understand I specifically take elements from Celtic folklore for Emerald-Man, but taking from folklore is not going to be a general rule for all of my comics. Thus far I’ve been using more weird science fiction elements to explain the origin of powers and abilities in Blue Moon such as cosmic radiation.
I should mention, I really cannot take reader suggestions often for my writing either, especially since I copyright my works. Seeing what readers like is fine; but one, it becomes really iffy if I take stuff a reader suggests, and two, I try to make these series a self-expression of personal interests. I don’t care for Princess Kaguya or moon rabbit myths at all. I’m more interested in “weird science”, the cold war, funny aliens, etc.
There’s also the fact that if I treat all myths as true, then it becomes hard to compromise what is true and what is not. Myths contradict each other. I treat Irish-Catholic folklore as true for Emerald-Man, not everything else specifically is.
