here is a lil’ concept for a brickonicle building system, using mixel joints.
I have plenty more characters done, so be sure to leave a comment if you wanna see them.
And here’s all the Toa Mata!
Muaka and Kane-ra!
Nui-Jaga!
Nui-rama!

I think TTV’s Brickonicle is using minifigures, but nevertheless this is really cool! I can see how it could be changed easily to create the other Toa Mata.
It is interesting. It would need a better head though.
That’s a nice idea…
would be a shame if somebody…
stole it
I’m imagining either printed masks or completely new pieces
where have I seen this before…
The concept is rather “blocky” at the moment.
If you have any suggestions on improvement please do contribute them
And no, I had not seen those brickonicle concepts before the creation of my own characters.
Honestly? 10/10, not even exaggerating. Maybe some small details could be changed, but I really like these designs.
Stumbling across these after the GWP set and all the MOCs it inspired came into existence shows how far ahead of its time this was
I don’t think I’ve used this account in about 8 years haha! I appreciate the kind words, I was just a kid at the time, I’ve come a long way in both my art and building.
It really is strange to look back on this super speculative time without any new bionicle material. I guess mine were pretty close to how the GWP turned out!
HE’S BACK
In some ways, yours were better, since they matched the originals in scale much closer than the GWP model did, but it just goes to show how challenging it is to capture that kind of aesthetic and spirit the Toa Mata carried that defined so many of our childhoods in a form outside of the hyperspecialized one built around it.
Also, welcome back king
Interesting seeing how this resembles the Tahu promo, especially in the head design.
Like others are saying, interesting how closely this resembles the GWP.
I think my favorite part, though, is the rahi you built. I really like that the Nui-Jaga keep the masks on their claws!
