Yeah, didn’t mean to sound like a jerk, just said that top part for the sake of the joke, but yeah…

I just wanted to ask: Is progress still being made on this, or is this project joining the ranks of those started but never finished?

It’s been a long time…


##UPDATE (Aug. 26)

It’s been quite a while since the last update, ain’t it? Almost a year of inactivity! Well, truth be told, I lost interest in the project for a while, plus I didn’t really have time to work on it with school (A.K.A jail) dragging me back along with other distractions.

Recently, I’ve decided to restart the project; redownloading my copy of Cave Story + and getting back to work on textures and scripts. Of course, there will be a lot of changes, most notably the main character (still being decided), some NPCs, and most of the weapons.

Speaking of weapons, how’s about some reveals? Hope this makes up for the long wait! (I know it won’t, but still)

Introducing…

The very first weapon you obtain in the mod, replacing the original Polar Star. Powered by a small rainbow gem, it fires semi-auto bolts of supercharged Hype energy. Not one of my best sprites, as it is a heavy edit of the original Polar Star inventory sprite, but I still like how it turned out.

The Double-Post will be the Machine Gun’s replacement, an obvious nod to, well, double-posting in general. Once again, a heavy edit of the pre-existing Machine Gun inventory sprite, but I’m still very proud of it. Not entirely sure why, might just be the shading. :stuck_out_tongue:


Well, that’s all for now, folks. I’ll be constantly updating this mod, so expect more frequent updates!

Are the previous weapons and such still in the game?

Only a few. I can’t reveal which ones, though… :wink:

EDIT: One more thing: I am open to suggestions, so feel free to send your ideas in. I may consider them for the mod!

I haven’t been working much on the mod all that much for a while, though I do have some stuff I’ve worked on for some time. Take a look!


  • In-Game Weapon Sprites

I’ve finished the weapon-sprites for two of the three revealed weapons:

The Hype Blade does not use a weapon sprite.


  • Script Edits

I’ve also begun editing the game’s script. Have some previews of the opening scenes:

If anyone has any suggestions for the script, please let me know through here. I only have so many ideas, and I’d love to see your guys’ ideas.

Hey all.

Just a quick little update for now. I’m still working on this, but it’s mostly just boring script stuff. I’ll post more interesting stuff when I have it.

Here’s another quick little update:

The mod can now be accessed from the menu! I had it replace Curly Story on the main menu for the time being (r.i.p, your sacrifice will not be forgotten), but for everyone else, it’ll be on the Challenges menu, unlocked from the start.

In other news, I’m having a few issues when it comes to weapon sprites appearing after loading up the mod. The text mods work perfectly fine, but the sprites keep showing up as the default CS+ sprites. I’ll look into this a bit more, and will post on here should I fix the problem or not.
