Certified Bordakh moment
For 810NICLE Day, I’ve finally posted something on time. Not a collection reveal or some insane community project, just a revamp of my favorite Vahki, Bordakh.
I’ve always loved 2004 for a variety of reasons. It’s the first G1 Bionicle year to which I was introduced, I have all the 04 sets, Vakama’s Huna is my favorite mask, etc.
The Vahki have to be some of my favorite G1 characters, even if there isn’t much character to be had.
The build is pretty simple, just being a system adaptation of the original set. I wanted to keep the general shape of it while amplifying certain aspects that I really liked. The thinness of the original set fit the Vahki very well, so I turned that up quite a bit by adding that single click-hinge in the torso.
I also made the blades wrist-mounted so that the character seems a bit less violent and more robo-police-y.
It stands a good deal taller than the original set. Unfortunately, I was not able to replicate the spider function due to the neck construction.
What’s that on its chest?! That’s right, this was originally supposed to be a system-built Hero Factory MOC. The original plan was to just build a Vahki-inspired MOC. Keep the body structure, maybe the blades, but switch out the head and legs and make it something different…
Thing is, I have no dark blue head pieces, and I figured since I like the Vahki so much, I might as well make a 810NICLE Day tribute for them, and so here we are!
Truly a Certified Bordakh Moment.
