Chiara fanon contest entry

Hi, this is my entry for DuckBricks’ fanon contest. I decided to give her a cloak to hint at her solo warior nature, and based some design elements on the Kanohi Volitak. I’m most proud of the spear, as basic as it is.

Below is the design without the cloak and pose, as well as the whole process of creation:

I started with some brainstorming for design elements, mainly the spear.

I then sketched some compositions that would present the design. I also got an idea for the torso I really like.

I defined some details of the design and continued with composition sketches:

I settled on this version, which got changed later, but the main idea stayed.

In drawing the foundation for the painting, I had some trouble with the mask, so I used my Nuparu’s Volitak to sketch a reference pic.

I find the pose frankly a bit bizarre, but this is actually my favorite Chiara design-wise. Very Toa-like proportions and armoring, relatively straightforward, but the kneeguards and shoulders add some nice pizzazz. Also, for some reason the second picture reminds me strongly of the VNOG art style, which is always a plus. Great work!

I wouldn’t call that basic at all; that’s a pretty cool design.

I miss the times when TTV was making contests and arts were separate category starting after MOC stage will end. It’s a lot of work to make such a thing but many want a winner which they’ll be able to build. And this art really deserve better. Good job
