It is just decoration, and to be fair Ekimu’s and Skrall designs aren’t tooo different. And those arrows are just meant to be like tubes carrying energy to activate the saw shield.

Wow, I love the suspense and color in this drawing. It’s so dramatic with a rugged, worn out Ekimu, and a defensive, hulking Umarak. Like I said, the colors pop out, with the glowing volcano and the crystal armor and weaponry of Ekimu. It really does set a good climax.
This joke is painful now.
