yellow bat ears in this new technic set

Finally! I like Lego’s farm vehicles. They have very good parts usage.

And this set has gold Star Wars constraction kneepads! Those could be very useful

It’s also cool to see those 14 tooth gears get some more use, even if it’s more decorative than functional.

Good recolour, on another note it’s crazy how much system is featuring in technic sets now.

The Cole mech actually looks pretty cool

You know, seeing all these new specialised mech armour and weapon pieces from ninjago and also some new joints from across several themes from last few years makes me think that a solid system-based Bionicle G3 is actually somewhat achievable if Lego ever decided to make it a reality (and cared enough to make that reality good). And I say this as someone who used to be very opposed to the idea of brick built bionicle figures before.

Imagine something along the lines of this MOC by Pohaturon on Flickr, which is pretty much a perfect representation of what I would want a system-based G3 to look like

For me, nothing will ever replace the constraction and technic builds, but if this was the future of bionicle, I wouldn’t complain one bit

of course it will never happen, but still, I like to fantasise

The one complaint I have with this new “mech system” is the lack of poseability. These newer sets do better job of covering up the blocky, gappy, one-piece limbs, but that lack of poseability still hurts.

I know that the early Bionicle sets had similar poseability, but this is 20 years later, and we’ve gotten much more poseable sets.

Same. If they used a system like in the MOC posted above, they would be much better, as they’d have working knees and elbows, and without needing an extra budget for new structural parts.

problem is I think becusse of exoforce sets being unstable they had to do it so they can achually stand no matter what ya do, tho could be wrong sense it could be better I agree with that

I’m ok with less poseability. From my experience with the Legacy Zane Titan Mech, the knees do little good when the whole thing is so dense the ankles don’t hold it up. The Core Zane mech felt much more playable by comparison thanks to the limb piece and smaller (thus lighter) size. Even though I got into Bionicle with Inika builds, the Mata-like articulation is a fine compromise to me.

That’s true. If you want the extra articulation, the rest of the model has to have a mass distribution that won’t overload the leg joints.

Nya’s Samurai X mech from the Crystallized wave has a Glatorian neck piece, and i noticed they’ve updated the mould.

The neck supports are more curved, likely to reduce stress concentration, and the tiny pinhole on one side has been replaced by the standard bowling ball hole trio CCBS bones use on both sides.
