Even if you haven’t heard of Wes Jenkins, you may very well have heard of Lego Island, TLG’s first foray into PC gaming in the late 1990’s. Turns out that Wes was the Creative Director of the project, which was phenomenally successful, helping to pull the company out of it’s financial slump along with Lego Star Wars and Bionicle.
Over the last several years, Wes has had to take care of his 91 year old father with dementia until his recent passing. He has also had to cover numerous medical bills for both his father and himself, and lacks formal medical insurance. As we speak, he and his wife are being threatened with eviction from their home. Despite the fact that he helped to revitalize TLG during one of their hardest times, and worked for several other major entertainment companies, he is in a very tough situation and is in immediate need of help.
Wes has already raised over six thousand USD in less than a week from 117 different individuals, and has a goal to raise 50,000 in total. His GoFundMe page can be found under the name Wes Jenkins and the category “emergencies” at this link. If you are not in a position to help, please pass this message along to other fans of Lego; if you are, please consider making a donation, even if it is very small.
BZPower has featured this cause on their front page. Normally I’m not a fan if them in any way, but hopefully everyone can see past the vehicle of the alert to the core of the funding itself.
Thank you to everyone who passes this message along or donates.
