Hayden almost responded, but talking had already gotten him into enough trouble; he decided he should take the guards advice and shut up.
Adelaide took a deep breath and gave an audible sigh. Her body resonated, peeling slightly to reveal paper as it shook.
“God dang magic users and their segregation. Why do you cut guys off like this! When are we gonna get civil rights for normal people! I just want a drink…”
She continued her tirade and ineffectively stomped on the ground as if she could break it away. Turning back towards Gideon, she stared, gazing into his eyes as if contemplating something.
Gideon wasn’t sure if she was secretly already drunk. But, it’s worth a shot…
“This city is full of superheroes. I don’t think anyone would question your powers if they saw them.”
He adjusted his suitcoat. “Plus, if we get into any trouble, I think I’ll be able to handle them. If they go after you, well… They’ll sorely regret that decision.” He patted the side of his coat with a slight nod.
“Now you go first. Don’t be afraid to belt anybody who gives you a hard time.”
Now if she walks directly into that open lot and gets into a fight with the coffee shop wall, it’ll be time to go get some coffee instead.
“…Verbally, I mean.”
Trying to keep herself from facepalming at Gideon’s ignorance of magic. She couldn’t sympathize for him but she supposed not everyone was knowledgeable.
“Not heros, Magic Users. I keep trying to avoid it but they always set up shop wherever they can lay their filthy hands. They might as well be controlling the real estate industry in their palms.”
A large leap from common sense, was Adelaide a schizo?
She frowned and grabbed him by the hand, leading him along into the bar. They would get a word from her.
Gideon tried hard not to smile politely. He had never heard the faintest notion of such nonsense before. But at the same time, he wasn’t exactly a wizard.
With a resigned shrug at the nonexistent crowd behind them as he staggered along, Gideon realized she was walking directly to the empty lot.
This should be fun.
(OOC: @Ghid, I didn’t want to go into the effort of correcting you or anything since that seemed like a hassle by the time I’d realised, but by him not seeing anything I basically meant that that area of space just wouldn’t exist to him. He flits his eyes over it like it’s a wall or some other mundane thing, rather than there just being a random empty lot in the middle of Metropolis. Sorry about the confusion )
From Gideon’s perspective, it would look as though Adelaide was going to run them right into the wall between the coffee shop and the dry cleaner’s, until she physically drags him through the door, and the spell lifts. Out of nowhere, the bar pops into existence before his very eyes, the walls surrounding him on all sides, somehow occupying space between the two establishments where there was none before. The solid wooden interior and the pungent fumes of alcohol were unmistakable.
It was a slow day. Among the sparse clientele were a shabby-looking man in a trenchcoat, someone who looked disturbingly like a ghost, and someone quite short and very hairy, though it was difficult to make out much under their comically oversized teeshirt and deerstalker cap, all huddled around the bar itself. Lurking off to the side was a blue-skinned demon, and from how he slowly and carefully laid his eyes over the whole bar, it could be assumed he was some kind of bouncer. He barely even bats an eye as the two enter, which isn’t too surprising given the variety of patrons already on display. Behind the bar, the tender was cleaning a glass, as they are wont to do.
OOC:
Ohhhh, okay. I’ll keep that in mind, my apologies.

Waiting for the unmistakable crunch of paper hitting brick, Gideon nearly jumped when through the wall and into existence appeared the very shady bar. He almost slowed enough to pull Adelaide over.
The heck is this, Harry Potter?!
Great. So this is Harry Potter.
Gideon waits till Adelaide comes to a stop and retracts his free hand into his waistcoat pocket. I wonder if maybe I’M drunk.
She relayed off him falling onto his chest and bounced off him. Adelaide gladly moved and took a seat on a bar stool and motioned Gideon over. Her form slowly dropping, her becoming a paper mass with a vague parka wrapping it before she shook and she returned to normal.
Among the bar’s patrons the two might see a dark-haired woman, maybe in her early twenties, relaxed in a booth in the corner by herself. She all but spits out her drink as she sees Adelaide, sputtering and coughing into her glass. Is she… made of paper? Trying not to be too conspicuous, she reaches down to rummage around in her purse.
Gideon shook his head slightly before taking his seat. Does this count as a date? Becuase this might be why I stopped dating.
Gideon made eye contact with the mysterious woman, glancing at her suspiciously. Not just for having a violent reaction…
But because she’s the only normal patron in the bar. Gideon mused. Or maybe she’s a werewolf or something? This whole place is insane.
Celsius decides the best course of action would be to freeze the bot’s elastic limbs. She attempts to close in, so she can freeze the legs.
She gave an audible cackle at the reaction and turned towards Lauren. Adelaide grinned from ear to ear and visually searched for the source, motioning towards herself as if she wanted to user her closer.

The blue bouncer watches this bizarre interaction with suspicious interest. He strides over to the golden and papery newcomers respectively. “ID?” He rumbles, crossing his arms. He’s rather tall up close.

Vance ran to the air vent, not quite expert enough at teleporting to get close enough to the robot without ending up merged with it or a structure. “Hand over the equipment”

The robot says nothing, springing away out of its cover to another air vent, giving Celsius a small window of opportunity should she wish to take it.

After a little bit of awkward science haha im so funny, two officers approach the cell, “Alright, we’re ready to talk to tall, dark, and broody over there.”
“Oh thank God…” The guard sighs in relief, opening the door, “You can have him. Get over here.”
The man simply grunts, and stalks over. With those weird cuffs on, and the amount of eyes on him, he wouldn’t be getting far. After she’d handed him over to them, the guard closes the door behind her again, returning to standing and watching.

Adelaide swore under her breath and started rummaging in her bag. Slightly forming her body to make her seem older and have a bit more eye candy, she contemplated her choices for a second. With a slight of hand and her powers, she turned to reveal a business esque card containing her info and mimicking a drivers license. It obviously stated she was old enough to drink.
“If this doesn’t work, does his stuff count?” She motioned towards Gideon.
And seize the opportunity she does, freezing one of its legs to the roof.

Gideon rolled his eyes as dramatically as he could. This was not someone to get on the bad side of.
“Only drinking light myself.” He said as he rummaged in his wallet and retrieved his license. “Someone has to drive when we’re done.”

Iosif buried his face in his hands to hide the fact of him desperately trying not to cry. It’s like Solnechnogorsk all over again…

“Pfft. Who needs to drive when we can fly or whatever.” You have a car? That’s equally as fun… She bit her lip as she kept the thought to herself.

The bouncer raised an eyebrow incrementally at Adelaide’s highly suspect behaviour, glancing between her and Gideon’s ID. They both looked legit, though then again, she was made of paper, it seemed like. “…Can paper even drink? Wouldn’t you just…” He uncrosses his arms and waves them vaguely, “Y’know…”

She shot him a look thought it was rather subdued. “You won’t know until you see me.” Adelaide shrugged and started rummaging through her bag.
