So after being a Bionicle fan since 2004, I just recently discovered that the entire (Non Metru-Nui) storyline (01-03/06-10) takes place in roughly A YEAR AND A HALF.
Because the events of this 1.5 years are so confusing to understand, I think it would be cool to find out how close to each other events of the story take place. I want to decode this year and a half and create a monthly chart of the events of the Bionicle story…if that’s even possible.
Are years in bionicle even the same length as years in our world???
I’m sorry if I’ve created a huge mess of a discussion, but I’d like help figuring this out!
Very ambitious project here, I would recommend checking out Biosector01’s timeline page at the link below.
Events in the bionicle timeline can only be approximated in years and months prior to the ending of G1. Every event that happens in a particular saga can only be approximated. There is no way to know for sure how long Takua’s adventure was in MNOG or how long it takes the Toa to travel to various places on Mata Nui. We only know, for instance, that every canon source of story within the Arrival of the Toa saga took place approximately 1.5 years before the ending of G1. The comics normally don’t go into that great of detail nor do the chapter books, so the timeline must be used as a general guide.
As for the question of bionicle years being the same as ours, no, they are not. A day on Spherus Magna canonically lasts 36 hours, so a year there would be a year and a half here.
