Dinosaur from Bota Magna (DuckBricks Fanon Contest entry)

Gathered Friends!

I’m here to show you my Dinosaur from Bota Magna created for Fanon Contest by DuckBricks

Main Photo:

I do not hide that when it comes to MOCs, I have experience only in designing humanoid creatures, so trying to create something more lizard-like was quite a challenge for me. Nevertheless, the result is so successful that I will try to compete with it in the second fanon contest organized by DuckBricks.

Left side:

When I was designing my little dinosaur, my intention was to design something that would be a link between a sea creature and a raptor that could have evolved from that see creature with a little help from the Great Beings.

Right side:

For this purpose, I made an oblong, slightly fish-like body to which I attached mechanically looking limbs. Contrary to appearances, the biggest problem was the hands. The forelimbs of dinosaurs that move on two limbs are usually short and it was not easy to design my raptor’s front legs so that they wouldn’t visually spoil the rest.

Front photo:

It was also a challenge to make a head, as most of the bricks that could be used as a base were already used by MOCs, which I didn’t want to dismantle. Ultimately, however, I even managed to implement the ability to move its jaw.

Back photo:

The build itself combines the CCBS system and elements known from old LEGO Technic sets, constituting a bridge between both generations of BIONICLE.

I’ll upload a 360° spin of this MOC on my YT channel soon and (maybe not in July) I’ll make full breakdown video too, so come here later. I’ll update this post by including links to promissed videos

EDIT 1:

Promissed 360° spin is already here:

Edit 2:
Here’s a video showing how to build it step by step

The head design looks very dog-like to me. I think it’s because the roborider head kinda looks like a snout.

What the dog doing

Very nice entry. Love the consistent spike motif, the bulky legs and the tail end. However it is a shame the neck is so thin and same too with the hip connection. But for someone who doesn’t do creatures, you’ve done very well!
