Has anyone gone and seen “Edge of Tomorrow”? I seriously recommend it if you did not see it yet! It is comedic, action packed, science fiction adventure!
Plot: Lt. Col. Bill Cage is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop - forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again - and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski. And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.
If you have seen it, did you enjoy or despise it and why? Please refrain from spoiling the movie for the sake of others enjoyment!
Edge of Tomorrow feels like a 2 hour recap of a really, really good sci-fi tv show. Like, if you’ve ever watched Breaking Bad and then gone and watched that 2 hour recap of Breaking Bad, you’ll get what I mean. It has all of the great parts of the episodes, except they’re all different episodes, so the setup, the tone, it all seems spliced together.
Very minor spoilers following, but I’ll put them in spoiler tags just in case: There’s a point in the movie where it seems like the entire movie is going to take place on a beach. So we have a big deal about doing stuff on the beach, and training for stuff on the beach…and then suddenly they’re in a car and they’re going inside a barn and they’re talking about stuff and conversations that’s supposedly happened, except they didn’t show that happening, it’s just kind of assumed that they’ve had all this character development together.
There’s also characters that seem really important in the beginning, and then disappear for a bit, and then reappear except they act and are presented like they’ve been given a lot more screen time than they actually have.
It’s honestly really weird and not something I’ve seen before; I’ve seen movies with severe pacing issues, but this is less of a pacing issue. It feels like more of an editing issue. It’s a good movie, and I’d recommend you see it because there’s a lot of great parts in it. Not in theaters, though. Rent it from Redbox or something.
I saw it in theaters with a few friends. This was basically my view. I do want to bring up the relationship between the protagonists though. I feel like certain parts of it were forced,a nod there was a lot of drama we never understood because of the missing parts.
Is good
It’s based off of the book “all you need is kill”, but I’m happy they changed the name, as if they called it that I would be butthurt because they are so different.
As a movie, it’s pretty good. It’s well done enough, and I like it, though I see it as nothing spectacular.
