Exo-Toa (for the new CMF Tahu)

Tahu is now a minifigure, so clearly he needed more firepower!

That, or the cosplayer just has a lot of time and money on his hands.

I wanted to focus mostly on keeping the colour distribution in the same places as the original set, which was a fun challenge, especially with the flat silver parts.

I also tried to keep the punching hook arm function using hinge plates, and I’ve got an alternative blaster tip for who wants to keep it more accurate to the set!

I’ve made instructions available if you also want to make your own copy!

I simply must forgive the scale issue with this model because wow that’s a good execution of the exo-toa. I unfortunately find it completely believable that a Bionicle fan would waste the resources to build a massive version of the exo-toa in real life :pensive:

Keep up the good work!

I need the stud.io file to order the parts! I love this model! It remains faithful to the original while remaining completely functional, thanks to the LEGO SCCBS mech cockpit. It is also MORE poseable than the OG, which is always welcome. MOST system Exo-Toa MOCs I see don’t have a great claw arm, so it is awesome how you beat those builders AND made it much more compact. While I don’t own the OG set (look at the after-market prices $$$), I know that this is very oversized, as Tahu’s feet are supposed to rest on the thigh pads. I don’t see how you could keep it so accurate at a proper minifig scale, so this over-scaling is forgiven. The Exo Toa looks great, keep up the AMAZING work!

I’ve seen this same idea executed a number of different times now, but this takes the cake. I think the element that reeeeeally ties it all together is the shoulder armor being used on the chest. Does such a good job of mimicking the original bohrok piece.

This is awesome, it honestly makes the original look a little lacking with how clean this build is and the amount of poseability it’s got.

The Exo-Toa is impressive and all, but the real impressive thing about this is that you were actually able to get the BIONICLE Cosplayer figure before the scalpers could…

Thank you! The parts list on Rebrickable should let you add it to Bricklink.

Yeah, the shape of the cockpit piece was functional enough for what I wanted, and I’m really happy I managed to build around it to keep parts solid, rather than just having Tahu sitting inside.

I’m also really proud that I managed to get the hook arm as close as possible!

Also thank you all for the kind comments as well!

This is awesome. I really like how it was built to resemble the original set.
