Experiments with metallics

Using a metallic gold sharpie

In my efforts to add a bit of glamour, I used some sharpie. Didn’t want to go too far, but I hope I’ve hit a balance

Not bad at all. Looks pretty good and accurate to me!

That is such an awesome idea! Was this using just normal metallic sharpies? And did you also color the Miru in the last picture?

They were normal metallics. A three pack of gold silver and copper. The miru was once silver but really sunburnt, so I gave it a “fresh coat” so to speak of silver sharpie

That looks really good! I’d never thought that Sharpies were so accurate in their colors.

Sharpie, or at least metallic sharpie, is surprisingly good at coloring Bionicle pieces. I used a silver sharpie to color a Ruru for one of my mocs and it looks quite good. Same goes for your handiwork.

These look great! Never thought sharpies would do such a great job.

considering sharpies are at least technically reversible, it’s really impressive it color matches so well for something that can be undone. I am curious though, does having sharpie on a piece for an extended amount of time do any kind of surface damage to the piece?

That looks very similar to standard Metru-gold. I really like how the half painted Metrutoran torsos look.

I’m not sure, as I haven’t tried removing it yet. It doesn’t seem to rub off, though I haven’t tested the water like with the paint.
