Fan elements for project.

Hi, working on a small project, essentially it’s making your own toa you can customize in a game and use in 1v1 matches , all parts of this is good except for elements, as males got 11 elements whilst females got only 3 (excluding light and shadow as that applies for both), so to make it even i decided to add 8 elements to the female side. I’d like thoughts on what you’d like to be added in this, how the element work, how it look etc. These 8 won’t be worked on for now as i want to get some footage of gameplay and tests of the existing elements since that’s easier. I’ll post the footage here hopefully by next week, if not then it will be the week after.

Here is my idea for the elements (These are not confirmed). Right side are some elements either i found from others or i could think of that may work. Some might not work.

Of your ideas, here’s how I would respond. In order of what seems to fit:
Very Fitting

  1. Sand- this is already an element, just wasn’t implemented into the Matoran species by the Great Beings. Matoran would likely manifest the ability in water retention, and eye shielding from blinding/blowing sand. Toa with the sand element would be less strong, but could hide well in sandstorms they could create and control, making them a stealth type character. They could have a higher tolerance to heat based attacks, both cold and hot.
  2. Kinetics- Matoran could manifest the ability in high immunity to whiplash and other head trauma. Toa of kinetics could absorb a portion of impact force from any blow they take to use later, making them a tank type character. Their stored energy could be released to increase their own strikes or other movements, such as jumping, or buffer a different attack. Major downside- they have to be hit in order to become stronger.
  3. Acid- while not considered an element, there is already presence in the form of the Lehvak. Matoran could manifest this ability in the form of acid resistance. Toa of acid could have major strengths against physical elements such as iron, and could be a ranged damage type. Their downside is potentially ruining their own battle area with hazards.

OK

  1. Magma- though this is already a combined element between fire and earth, making it its own element has some benefits. Matoran could manifest the ability as ability to breath in heavy air. Toa of magma could form structures by letting their magma cool, or could toss gobs of burning rock that quickly hardens around a target. They could also create a sort of magma armor. I would imagine their major downfall would be being fairly slow.
  2. Poison- though acid and poison are connected canonically, this too has some applications as its own element. Matoran could manifest the ability as a high immunity to poisons. Toa could leave a poisonous mist or coat an object with poison that would slowly drain the health of an opponent passively. I imagine their major issues coming from required ingestion and physical contact, as well as being very weak to the blowing and purifying from air and water.

Careful to implement

  1. Space- this seems like it may be a little vague, and in that vagueness perhaps become too powerful, like with the power of time. I would suggest making this be specifically related to teleportation. Matoran could manifest the ability by having a heightened sense of spatial awareness. Toa would be able to teleport anywhere in sight or through a thin barrier, and create portals. Their downside would be the waits- there would be a cooldown between teleportations dependent on the distance traveled, and generating a portal would require stillness and focus.

Don’t see it
These are not particularly ranked, as I wouldn’t suggest using them.

  1. Crystal- this is already a subset ability of stone.
  2. Glass- though somewhat unique typing, it has no benefits beyond what would already be supplied by the sand element.
  3. Radiation- all effects that could be conceived by this would already be doable with other elements, like light, lightning, fire, plasma, and poison.
  4. Ash- this seems like it would be very weak, with its only good use in screening.
  5. Mist- this is already a subset ability of water.
  6. Telekinesis- this is already a subset ability of psionics.

Other ideas
These are some ideas of my own, if you so wish to accept.

  1. Weather Control- though this is already somewhat a combination element of air, water, ice, and fire, like magma I can see this having some benefits. Matoran could manifest this element as being able to predict and sense weather changes. Toa of weather control would be able to make raging storms of wind, rain, hail, and lightning, or cause a drought. They could also be a bit more enduring against hot and cold attacks, though not as much as the likes of fire and ice. Their major flaw would be the required build up time for each attack type.
  2. Density Control- Matoran could manifest this ability by being durable, yet light weight. Toa would be able to increase the density of themselves or an object they hold to increase its durability, or decrease it to pass through objects. Though they would be nimble and tough, they would lack any form of heavy attack, making them a shield type character.
  3. Stasis- Matoran could manifest the ability by being able to break out of stasis. Toa of stasis could create stasis fields around themselves or other targets. This would be a great assistance ability, as it could be used to protect oneself and other allies. While it could temporarily halt an opponent, the opponent would also be unable to be harmed. Generation of the stasis field would also likely be highly energy consuming.

Do you agree with this listing here?

  1. Yes this can work though i was thinking it was too similar to stone but with how you laid it out i can figure something out.
  2. I thought the same for this element
  3. I didn’t really look into it much but i guess can be good against any thing solid, resistant to corrosion for the matoran or toa
  4. Yea I dont think i’d go with magma due to already having fire interaction with stone or earth coded in when in contact it makes magma. So kinda no point, i’ll keep it in mind
  5. Poison was weird as i was more so thinking in terms of disease or viruses and just sorta used poison as the name. But even so it is pretty hard to make this work as a full on element of a toa or matoran.
  6. Space is sorta in the middle , as like you said it’s a bit vague, so my intial idea was more so telekinses kinda thing, or like invisble structures. But still don’t know if these would work.

For Crystal & glass i was thinking it’s pretty much earth vs stone all over again as i was tryna figure out how to make each work without feeling too similar e.g reflecting light or attacks. The rest on the list i can see why you made those points.

Other Ideas:
Stasis & density control i can look into. Weather control i think will be too similar to air or water. Thanks for your input i appreciate it.
