G2 Villagers

Most of my MOC’s have been bringing G1 and Original Characters into the G2 story. This is a selection of some of the various characters I have made so far to flesh out the island of Okoto.

Photok:

A mighty warrior of the Order of Ekimu, Photok uses his Minor Mask of Speed and heavy weapons in quick bursts of action to defeat the schemes of the Brotherhood of Makuta. Photok protects the humble desert dwellers of the Region of Stone he calls home.

Solek:

A mighty warrior of the Order of Ekimu, Solek now faces off against the rising threat of the Brotherhood of Makuta in the race to find the Heir of Ekimu. Solek uses his Minor Mask of X-Ray vision to cut through deceit and the vile snowstorms of the Region of Ice.

Tanma:

Leader of the Order of Ekimu, Tanma leads the fight to protect the Heir of Ekimu from the Brotherhood’s dark goals. In the Region of Jungle, Tanma wears the colors of the poisonous tree frogs of the area using his dual swords to cut through underbrush. A Minor Mask of Levitation gives Tanma the ability to jump and soar through the trees.

Radiak:

A member of the Brotherhood of Makuta and mutated with bat wings, the murderous Radiak uses his Minor Mask of Corruption to hunt down the Heir of Ekimu. Exiled from the Fire Village, Radiak lives in isolated caves in the Region of Fire.

Kirop:

Kirop was once a mild mannered miner in the Region of Earth but due to growing frustrations with the Protector and Turaga of the region, Kirop eventually grew angry and joined the secret Brotherhood of Makuta. With his mutated bat wings and the horrifying Minor Mask of Silence, Kirop now scours the abandoned mine shafts of Okoto hunting for the Heir of Ekimu.

Gavla:

Gavla the lieutenant of the Brotherhood of Makuta, is a viscous hunter; letting her Minor Mask of Hunger lead her to her next victims. She is determined to find the Heir of Ekimu and hunts for them by using her mutated bat wings to fly over the calm waters of the Region of Water at night.

Ahkmou:

To most members of the Region of Stone, Ahkmou is a successful businessman even if a bit rude and unkind; a key contributor to the community. In secret though Ahkmou is the leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta. He seeks to coordinate the Brotherhood’s actions to undo the Toa Seal binding Makuta and his dark servants to the Shadow Realm, and to ultimately find and destroy the last Heir of Ekimu to prevent the possibility of a new Toa of Light stopping his plans.

Takua:

Adopted son of former Protector now Turaga Vakama, Takua grew up among the Region of Fire watched over by his brothers the current Protector of Fire Narmoto and the current Guard Captain Jaller. Prone to wanderlust and adventure, Takua soon was known for getting into more trouble on the island of Okoto than almost anyone other than the Archeologist Harvali. The two hit it off, and Takua and Harvali shared a relationship until she disappeared while on an expedition to find the lost Eastern Continent.

Little does Takua know that he is the last of a surviving family line tracing back to Ekimu the Mask Maker. As Heir of Ekimu someday Takua will be able to take on a Toa of Light form with the aid of the Mask of Light, but for now the Takua is oblivious to that.

Harvali:

Harvali a native of the Region of Jungle is famous for her efforts to discover the City of the Mask Makers. Scrappy and intelligent, she survived hordes of Skull Spiders for years in her quest to discover the lost city.

After her discovery of the city, she fell into a relationship with another wander prone Okotan, Takua from the Fire Tribe. But she has since gone missing, lost in an expedition on the Eastern Continent.

Or at least that is what Okotan’s assume… in truth Harvali is engaged in a struggle against the oppressive Skrall invaders who have set up a gladiatorial arena system in the Eastern Continent Capitol City and taken many of Harvali’s fellow expedition members as slaves. Harvali is in a fight or die situation, often relying on the aid of emancipated “Glatorian” and Skrall outcasts to survive in the city streets and its nearby deserts.

Karesh:

An outcast of the Skrall, this desert nomad has been aiding Harvali in her quest to liberate her fellow expedition members.

Iranuu:

A guardian in the Region of Ice, Iranuu is a skilled combatant. She wears a ceremonial Ice Mask to showcase her important role.

(The mask is a ZiosCustom resin mask)

Skull Turaga/Skull Priest:

A mysterious Omen of Death associated with the Skull Raiders, some view the Skull Priest as a villain… while others believe they are dedicated to worshipping the natural cycle of life and death on Okoto.

Madernak:

An experienced miner native to the Region of Earth, many respect Madernak for her knowledge and skill. She has successfully guided and managed many mining operations across Okoto with record safety numbers. She lives with her wife of many years Vhisola a native of the Region of Water.

Melea:

A native villager of the Region of Stone, Melea lives with her two nephews.

Nuparu:

An expert engineer from the Region of Earth and a skilled inventor, Nuparu brings a skilled hand to his work in the mines of Okoto.

Narmoto’s Son:

The heir and son of Protector of Fire Narmoto, his father taught him the Legend of the Heroes at a young age shortly before the arrival of the Toa. Now, Narmoto’s Son trains like his father to someday take his father’s place as Protector of the Village of Fire.

Turaga Dume:

In rare occasion, some villages may posses multiple Turaga depending on how long the various former Protectors live to. Such is the case in the Region of Fire, where Turaga Dume is known as the Senior Turaga on the island. Having witnessed his own son Lhikan become Protector and eventually be succeed by Dume’s grandson Vakama and then Dume’s great-grandson Narmoto; Dume has witnessed many generations rule the Fire Tribe in his lifetime. An accident has left Dume an amputee on both his left leg and left arm, and he relies prosthetics and his ceremonial staff to walk.

With age Dume is increasingly tired and not seen often in public. Due to his decreased mobility Dume has moved to the restored City of the Mask Makers to be closer to Ekimu and the new population center of the island. When Dume does manage to join the other Turaga and Protectors in council his wisdom is often the most valued due to his long life experience. Dume wears a Minor Mask of Regeneration.

Turaga Nokama:

Nokama is the retired Protector of Water, having passed on her former title to her son Kivoda. A skilled sailor and ocean biologist, Nokama teaches her people the wisdom of the ocean and its secrets.

As Turaga, Nokama wields a Minor Mask of Translation and a ceremonial trident carved from shark bones.

Turaga Onewa:

Onewa is the retired Protector Emeritus of the Region of Stone, having passed on his title and equipment to his son Nilkuu. Wizened by the desert sun, Onewa might seem to have a cynical attitude; but is trusted as a steadfast aide to his people. His wisdom and friendships are often forged in the memory of the mistakes of his bullish youth.

As Turaga Onewa wields a ceremonial Hammer Staff and wears the Minor Mask of Mind Control.

Turaga Matau:

Matau is the retired Protector Emeritus of the Region of Jungle, having passed on the title and role to his son Vizuna. A jovial man and skilled in medicinal knowledge, Matau can easily brighten the mood in dark times. As a spiritual guide in the Region of Jungle, Matau promotes balance with the air, animals, plants and water that keeps the jungles of Okoto beating.

As Turaga, Matau uses a ceremonial Buzz Saw staff and wears the Minor Mask of Illusion.

Turaga Whenua:

Whenua is the retired Protector Emeritus of the Region of Earth, having passed on his former title to his daughter Korgot. A skilled miner, Whenua offers both spiritual and temporal guidance to the Region of Earth. Whenua’s no gruff attitude of little words allows him to provide wisdom in council with the Protectors and Turaga of the island.

As Turaga, Whenua wields a ceremonial Drill Staff and wears the Minor Mask of Night Vision, his former Protector tools and masks having passed on to his daughter.

Turaga Vakama:

Vakama is the retired Protector Emeritus of the Region of Fire and father of current Protector Narmoto. A wise sage, he is one of the Island of Okoto’s best known storytellers and lore keepers. Vakama’s life has been marred by tragedy from the violent death of his own father Lhikan, and now his life as a widower. Vakama is a proud family man having raised several sons and daughters included the adopted Takua.

As Turaga, Vakama yield a ceremonial Fire Staff and a Minor Mask of Invisibility. His son Narmoto has inherited his former Protector armor and tools, Protector Mask of Fire and his secondary Great Mask of Illusion.

Turaga Nuju:

Nuju is the retired Protector Emeritus of the Region of Ice, having passed on his title to his son Izotor. Now he offers guidance and spiritual knowledge for the Ice Tribe. Nuju often speaks in the language of birds requiring the aid of translators such as his son Izotor or the well trained Matoro. Nuju views this as a method to test the patience of those seeking his wisdom.

As Turaga, Nuju wields an Ice Pick and wears the Minor Mask of Telepathy, his former Protector Mask of Ice and Great Mask of Telepathy now in the ownership of Izotor.

Thank you, I will be adding more to the post over the day. I have a few more to upload but I just need to work on editing my photos and getting them up to Flickr first.

You know, I’ve seen a lot of G2 versions of the Mata Nui Matoran, but this is the first time I’ve seen the Karda Nui Matoran adapted. Cool stuff.

Tbh I don’t like G2 at all but this…this is a nice continuation! I like the creative use of G1 characters and especially how the brotherhood of Makuta is a cult of disillusioned mataron (or should I say villagers?) who seek Makutas return. I look forward to seeing further characters from your story!

Honestly the Karda-toran were interesting characters in my mind to adapt. They came out a year after I stopped paying attention to G1, are infamous for being some of the “worst Bionicle figures” and all that. While the characters interested me, I was also scared off by the 2008 sockets and how fragile they were. So I decided to adapt them with the idea of them as a heroic secret order fighting a clandestine war vs a villainous secret order and that kind of fueled the direction I took with them. Plus CCBS sockets can take a nuclear bomb it seems compared to the fragile 2008 sockets! I have plenty of Mata-Nui Matoran turned into Okotans that I still need to post though.

As for the “Brotherhood of Makuta” being a cult of disillusioned Matoran/villagers as Axelford pointed out (I guess Matoran is sort of a canon name for Okotan in G2 too since a Lego Club magazine accidentally used the name for them)… The idea actually stems from the cut plan for MNOG to feature a “Shadow Tribe” under the influence of Makuta that Ahkmou was a part of. An image of said Shadow Tribe’s cut scene that would have shown them infecting the Kohli balls is found in the MNOG files. I thought it was to cool of a concept not to pass up in my attempts to flesh out the world of G2. I do intend to add Vican and Vultraz to the line up eventually, and maybe Mazeka to the opposing side although for Vultraz and Vican I might have to revamp their vehicles too!
