Ever since Ninjago started, its lore has always referred to the two brothers as “Wu and Garmadon.” But Lloyd, Garmadon’s son, has Garmadon as his last name. Huh? What? Is there any reason for this? If Garmadon was Lloyd’s dad’s real last name, then it would make some sense. He was always referred to as “Lord” or “Sensei” Garmadon. Both of those titles are often used before someone’s last name (e. g. Sensei Nguyen or Lord Pendragon). But the real question is with Wu. Could Wu’s full name be Wu Garmadon? And if that’s the case, then why is one brother always referred to by his first name, and the other brother by their last name?

Oh no, this is another Mario situation:
Wu Garmadon and Garmadon Garmadon

Maybe we are dealing with a culture that uses the fathers first name as the sons last name.

His first name is Lorde.
Yeah, Gamy and Wu came from an era where people just had one name. Lloyd was more recent, so he needed a last name, so he just took his dad’s first name.
The real question is where Montgomery came from. Is it Misako’s maiden name?
