Golden Fusion: Dreamcatcher Dragon God (GSB)

Oh my.
This is by far the most abstract, interesting and well made GSB i have ever had the privilege to see. Stupendous work here.

Do you think the Great beings stay in heaven…because they’re afraid of what they’ve created?
wait that’s a spy kids 2 reference isn’t it dang
Also does he have an eye on his crotch?

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
This really does scream eldrich being. The lack of a face makes it feel like this isn’t just one being but an amalgamation of many.
Eyes everywhere, all knowing and all seeing. Honestly fantastic.

This is great :+1: and I can foresee a ton of positive comments incomming, so I will not take away the words from others because I’m sure we have similar things to say.
However I will take time to express what I don’t like about the model.
Two things…
I like the interpretation of the many eyes, but I don’t think it translated well into the final model. If I didn’t read your description it would never occur to me they are eyes. Perhaps Barraki eyes would be more fitting, or a combination of Barraki and Bohrok eyes. Perhaps even better would be bigger, custom eyes made out of multiple pieces (iris, pupil) - something that creates a feeling of everwatching organic eyes - Something more akin to your inspiration.

Second is the reptilian look. Once again after reading your solution and inspiration I can see it, but not before. Maybe usage of more animalistic Lego elements would help with this.

In any case good job!

Woah this moc looks amazing!!
The amount of work put into the formation of this moc is awesome, and the final product is just astounding. Definitely one of my favorite GSB mocs.

Bless your heartlight! Thank you! This is the second time in my MOCing life that I’ve gone all out, and I’m glad it paid off :triumph:

… mayhaps

Thank you tons! I’m not too familiar with Eldritch lore, but I’m glad it evokes that! The faceless being with eyes around its body does sound pretty horrific now that you mention it.

Thank you both; I aim to create art, an art I shall create :relieved:

One can almost say that ā€˜my head game is strong.’

It’s rather ironic that I’ve… overlooked this. I actually agree. I may have focused too much on the golden muscles that I forgot that the eyes need to have, well, a piercing gaze. However…

I may actually be able to turn this in my favor:
A beautiful, radiant god appears before you, gracing you with its presence with blinding skin to distract you from its terrifying eyes-- Eyes that you would never realize are actually there…

… at least, until you find one of them staring right at you.

That’s the absolute best excuse I could come up with lmao I’m adding all that to the post; thank you for the insight! That actually helped!

This on the other hand, I’m well aware of. I’m not aiming to replicate an actual existing reptile’s head. My base head is a faceless sentinel, and the reptilian look would be merely composed of intricate elements that resemble said species(i.e. the snakes on his head, exoskeletal/scaly horns, and sharp fangs)

I appreciate the insight and I’m glad you love it! <3

That’s a pretty good quote :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m aware that you’re aware :grinning: I didn’t mean straght up reptile head, more like few extra reptile-like designs around it, or throughout the rest of the model.

That’s awesome work overall, but I especially love the head design.

darn right

I am … struck by so many things here. Eyeless faces look so good in LEGO, and this isn’t an exception. This is such a perfect blend to me, between the smooth, system-heavy construction of a flickr MOC, without the part-spam and repetition of a flickr MOC. It’s simultaneously beautifully cohesive aesthetically, as a character, and somewhat messy in its actual construction, as a Bionicle MOC.

I will say that the hip/pelvis area, and to a lesser extent the shoulder blades, depart from this, and the messiness seems to blends into the appearance of the actual figure, especially the extra articulation support for the hips.

A small price to pay. Zork’s comment sums it up quite well. This is both the most abstract and well-refined iteration of the GSB that I’ve seen to date.

Stupendous.

While I would prefer him with a tail, he is great over all.
The ā€œFaceā€ works really well here.

I definitely agree with the choice to do this; I wouldn’t want the Golden Skinned Being to look too similar to any one of his component beings.

Besides, I’m not sure if the gold Piraka spine is any ā€œeasierā€ to obtain than the parts you used.

It was you who evoked the horror enthusiast in me to dig this up and apply it subconsciously to my design

I’m thankful you perceived my vision early into this journey
