Gundam RX-78-2 High Grade

@JoeScibelli, you could also find those at your local hardware store of Jo-Anns.

The problem is, those aren’t designed for cutting polystyrene, ABS, and resin like these are.

These are top-notch.

Yea, but they’re ok for an amateur.

The way I view it:

Build a model or two to see if you like it with Walmart-grade tools (not even joking).

If you like it, then buy professional tools because you’re going to want them in the long run.

I just got the Jo-Anns kind because

  1. I rarely get model kits in often (like, every 6-12 months, because birthday and Christmas), and
  2. I don’t have that much room, or the budget to buy god knows how many model kits.

(Explanation: 13.)

Yeah, but you get the best worksmanship possible out of those few kits.

To each his own.

This may seem like a strange update to add, but I think I figured out what my first video will be using this model kit.
Mobile Suit Gundam V Daizyujin (AKA MMPR Megazord)

The size might be a little off on Daizyujin’s part, but I think it might end up being an interesting fight.
I just wish they had a Voltron figure about this size…

I apologize for dredging this subject up again, but I was just wondering something.

If I wanted to do some troop building with the Gundam sets, which model (or models) would you suggest?
I know enough to know the Zakus are usually found in large numbers, but what about other Mobile Suit models?

Edited for double-post. --John Smith

Okay, here’s the thing. What general designs do you like?

For army build, I’d recommend a Zaku II or Grazers.

It really comes down to what you want from them. GM’s are also nice, but maybe a little too limited in features for my taste.

Personally, I love all of the Principality of Zeon aquatic mobile suits, such as the Gogg and Z’Gok. But that’s just the style, not because I think they are great kits.

Eh, it’s fine. I like helping people out with getting into this kind of stuff.

Maybe try to stick with UC sets.
-For Fed. you should get some ReZels, Stark Jegans, GM 2’s, and maybe some other suits such as some Balls ( <–why?), some Gundam Ground Types, etc…
-For Zeon you should get some aquatic suits, such as the Z’Gok, and maybe some Gelgoogs.

It really depends which scale you’re getting

I’ve mostly been going for 1/144 scale right now, mostly High Grades, but I plan to someday get a Real Grade or two…or three.
I like the 1/144 scale for some reason. I guess after I saw the other stuff that comes in that scale…

How about the RX-79 Gundam EZ-8?
I found an old action figure that I had gotten years ago from a thrift store, and thought maybe that would be a good troop builder?

RX-79 (aka Gundam Ground Type) would be a good troop builder. EZ8 however is a unique mobile suit, so…

I managed to dig up my Gundam markers, so I decided to test them out on my RX-78.
I mostly used a gunmetal gray marker to add (or over-add) some weathering/battle damaged details. I got rid of any stickers applications, and replaced them with their appropriate paint color.

Dredging this up again…
Um…does anybody know where to get replacement parts for these things?
I was putting my Tryon 3 together and I lost a piece…
