Halo SPI drawing

Made this as some practice with color a few weeks ago, its a Spartan-III wearing SPI, based on the Ghosts of Onyx book cover. I ended up fading him into the page because I couldnt find a way to do the legs I was happy with

and heres some in-progress pics, I almost feel like they look better than the final

Anybody else notice how much SPI gauntlets look like Kratta from the sides?

How long do you think this took? Usually when I practice with color I give up two seconds in and realize I’m much better at feigning expertise in the digital realm.

Unfortunately, I quit Instagram over a year ago, as it was becoming increasingly addictive for me. I’m on Discord now, though, so I believe we’re on a few servers together.

This was done in mostly one sitting, over thd course of an evening. I had the physical book cover with me as reference and wanted to push myself to use color, since I typically keep to pencil sketch and shading. Definitley happy with how it came out overall though, and I have plans for something big (literally) once I complete a few more practice sketches like this one
