Hcaet Drawde, Scourge of the Inner Seas

So I was listening to this, and was reminded of a certain piratical character from the Cyclic Plane storyline…

Hcaet Drawde is absolutely and unashamedly a pirate, and has plied the waves of the Sea of Protodermis for as long as he can remember.

Originally hailing from the Southern Islands, Hcaet carved out a living as captain of one of the deadliest ships known to the Matoran Universe. He lost two limbs to a dragon rahi on one adventure, which he later killed with his bare hands. Each monstrous face carved into his armour has a long and violent story behind it.

Hcaet Drawde is a member of the Brothers in Arms, a rather motley crew of mercenaries that cruise around the Matoran Universe doing “Toa stuff”. They are based in a dockside stronghold on Xia, but of course their main hideout is Hcaet’s ship. Its members include three matoran (Toa, Hordika and Matoran), a makuta and a member of Keetongu’s species. Nobody is quite sure what Hcaet is. Not even him.

In person, if he likes you, his ways are slightly odd and his accent strange and foreign. Hcaet likes nothing more than a cask of “Toxic Rum” (The mutagen adds flavour!), piles of plundered loot and an admiring Ga-matoran or six to keep him company in whatever inn he happens to be occupying.

In battle, he is a terrifying sight. Despite his bulky, ponderous look and his reliance on his protheses, he moves quickly and accurately. He uses his pegleg as a weapon, but far more dangerous is his gonne, which has been known to blow holes in ships’ hulls!

Hcaet Drawde is a character belonging to my friend Mindtides, who sprung from a very short-lived Roleplay based in the Matoran Universe several years ago. I built Hcaet as a sort of thank-you after he gave me a month’s subscription in my favourite game. Despite belonging to another person, he is a part of my storyline in the Cyclic Plane. A lot of characters in that storyline stem from various RP groups and he’s one of them.

Design-wise I incorporated a lot of Takanuva Mistika’s parts, 'cause John loves them. I tinkered around, and finally came up with a head design which not only puts eyes there, but also gave him an earring and a beard! XD The upper torso design is similar to that on Gringat, but the lower torso is a new, experimental design which gives him a wider pelvis and a sort of samurai battle skirt. I’m really proud of how his chestplate ended up.

Creative MOC. I like it.

Great photo work, and the Moc is so Pirate like.
10/10

I didn’t even read the title

saw the moc and thought “Pirate”

awesome

This MOC is very cool!

I like the leg

Very nice!

The Bulk is strong with this one.

Excellent work on this one (as usual)! I love the use of the burnt orange as a way to add contrast, and the main weapon is pretty cool! I like how he can change out his hook hand, and he has a great asymmetrical look that really fits with the character!

Overall, awesome job! I really like the lore behind your universe…I can’t wait to see more of it!

Nice MOC.

I like the Head design on him. How long did it take to build?

I don’t remember, really. I made him a few years ago now. I think he got put on hold for a while after I got stuck on the pelvis area though. The chest, head and shoulders basically built themselves but after that coming up with the rest to fit was tricky.

Cool most of my Mocs take about an hour after finding the right pieces for the design. I think the one that took the longest to just get to move right was my most recent Moc, which took me about an hour and a half almost two hours.

Heheh. The average build time for one of my MOCs is 2-3 weeks. Longer if they’re a serious project. I tend to keep multiple WIPs on the go all the time though.

That’s good at least you know they’re complex if it takes 2-3 weeks to make. Mine are simple, but stable so that’s a good thing.

You’ve done it again, by your beard!

I love the weapon and peg leg and hook, and the gunmetal/grey/burnt orange highlight color scheme is great! The mask fits the character, too!

My only complaint is the foot design. Don’t get me wrong, it works, but it’s a little too boxy for me. Otherwise, excellent work!

I love the whole pirate vibe he has going on with the hook and that lower leg.

Avast ye scallywag ye did it again! Thar peg-leg and thar hook-hand be most well done matey!

Freakin’ awesome, as usual. The solid, bulkiness really give Hcaet a unique feel, and matches his character and personality very well.

judging by the tubes and bulky design I’d say the closest would be makuta.

cough

anyway, you succeeded in making a pirate, good job. not really a fan of the foot, but otherwise it’s pretty great.

by the way, how in the name of teridax do you pronounce that name?
