When I found the old saying Pearls before swine, it was originally from Matthew 7:6 in the Bible. Over time the old saying varied in different countries.
In Japan, it is do not offer Koban coins to Cats.
In India, it is do not give Ginger to Monkeys.
In Spain, it is offering honey to donkeys.
These all mean you should not give something precious to someone who won’t appreciate it.
Is there an old Maori saying that means the following above? If so is there a mention of an animal and an item given to that animal in the Maori saying? I ask these following because I am trying to work on a Bionicle OC based on this proverb. If you could provide information, please comment down below.

I think you would have much better chances of finding such a phrase by contacting Maori language experts, like those at the Maori Dictionary, rather than a forum for fans of a defunct toy line with the vaguest connection to the Maori language.

When you mentioned metal claw, what creature was Berix referring to and what was the origin of the proverb? I would assume Berix is not the only one who would know that proverb.
