Kualus’s upper arms were changed to white, which is one of the changes that I was previously disappointed in, but now his upper legs have been changed to black. So I guess he still has a unique distribution of black after all.
There are a few more changes than that to Kualus, which I’m not particularly pleased about as I went into this contest with the express understanding that only the details I’d given permission to be changed (just the metallic armour colour) could be changed in the following art portion.
On the left is my winning model - on the right is my model, modified to more closely match the changes made to it’s design in the winning artwork.
(note, I do not have a white metru chest cover to substitute for the black one atm, the cloth is still tan - not brown like it is now in the artwork, and the armour is unpainted, but those would be the rest of the changes not represented here)
I won’t delve into the decisions and rational that went into each of my design choices that have been changed arbitrarily here, and for what it’s worth I think Specter’s artwork is phenomenal and deserving of this win - I voted for it for a reason.
But I’m not satisfied with the amount of leniency given to artists on adhering to the designs they were supposed to be representing, especially when other far more trivial things were so strictly enforced - and I can’t help but feel disappointed by the outcome because of it, despite my respect for Specter and admiration of his work.
Thank you, I wasn’t aware of any of these colors since metallic green is not precisely a common color in Bionicle and I don’t own any Krana yet. The second one still looks slightly shiny like an actual metal would look, so it’s totally fine by me to use it.
