Alternate build using parts from
20214 Adventure Designer. I bought the set two years ago to complete my Master Builder Academy sets, and never did anything with it until now.
The build was inspired by - apart from the parts I had available - the House on the Rock in Wisconsin. Mostly in being a house built on a rock, not for any of the weirdness inside it.
I think this is my first attempt at any sort of architectural build, and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. If I ever returned to this once the majority of my LEGO collection is out of storage, the rockwork is the first thing I’d want to flesh out - including making sure the house is more visibly built around the rock like the original one, rather than on top.

That would be a rough house to live in. Wonder how they get to it?

Came expecting a metaphorical meaning to the title, because sometimes people do that with MOCs.
Got a house on a rock.
I am pleased. It looks good, too–a lot of personality in the arrangement and architectural style.

there’s a perfectly reasonable way to get into the house on the side that I did not build

a spiral staircase is a good idea. The real House on the Rock (at least, the path they let visitors take) is a sloped bridge between the gatehouse and the main house)
it is. I think building something to match that would have to be on a very different scale
